As Dailytech so eloquently puts it, Sony wants their stuff back - but only if you're done with it. Sony recently announced the start of the Sony Take Back Recycling Program. On September 15th, you can take your old Sony hardware to any of 75 Waste Management drop-off locations, where it will be recycled for absolutely no fee. As the program expands, Sony aims to have a recycling center within 20 miles of 95% of American households. Sony's ultimate goal of this program is to get 1 pound of old goods recycled for every 1 pound of merchandise shipped out. When asked for a comment on this new recycling program, Sony president and CEO Stan Glasgow says "Providing the highest level of service and support doesn't stop once a purchase is made. We believe it is Sony's responsibility to provide customers with end-of-life solutions for all the products we manufacture."

that's retarded
how many fools are actually going to do this rather than at the least stopping by the local gamestop or eb games or the like and at least trading it in?! even if they'd only get $10-$20!

it doesnt say broken, it says "only if you’re done with it", that could imply that you may be bored with it.

ive had disc drive issues with every cd/dvd based console ive ever owned, it's where i learned to fix cd/dvd drives (when my old mega cd kept screwing up every couple of months, its usually just the laser getting dirty, which is why i prefer flip top consoles

This is probably because of all those polution laws in the Eu giving them ideas, i'm sure the PS2 contains many things which doesnt meet the RoHS standards.

Hey look, recycle em! they get rid of the eco problem, and a lot of spare parts back too.

You probably dont know how many Gold and Platin is used in every Chip and Pcb we make/use?

The world has not endless ressorts of this things and sou you have to recycle them if you want to or not you Have to.

So if they take it back its good, because thats the reason you can buy one day a ps4....

Yeah, their car stereo products certainly earned their name.

Batou, I don't think you know about the Disc Read Error epidemic with the PS2. I'm on my 3rd PS2.
I still have my original PS2. Think it's a rev 3. I got the disk read error 3 times. The first 2, I took it apart and cleaned it, and it was fine. The last time, I had to replace a $10 part to get it running.

Next time you get an error, get the model numbers off the back, and Google it. Might save yourself some cash.

My PS2 was the last and most powerful model, no errors for me.

In fact, did anybody here who got the error have a European PS2?
