Yesterday after the stock market has closed, NVIDIA has officially reached a bigger market cap compared to Intel. After hours, the price of the NVIDIA (ticker: NVDA) stock is $411.20 with a market cap of 251.31B USD. It marks a historic day for NVIDIA as the company has historically been smaller than Intel (ticker: INTC), with some speculating that Intel could buy NVIDIA in the past while the company was much smaller. Intel's market cap now stands at 248.15B USD, which is a bit lower than NVIDIA's. However, the market cap is not an indication of everything. NVIDIA's stock is fueled by the hype generated around Machine Learning and AI, while Intel is not relying on any possible bubbles.

If we compare the revenues of both companies, Intel is having much better performance. It had a revenue of 71.9 billion USD in 2019, while NVIDIA has 11.72 billion USD of revenue. No doubt that NVIDIA has managed to do a good job and it managed to almost double revenue from 2017, where it went from $6.91 billion in 2017 to $11.72 billion in 2019. That is an amazing feat and market predictions are that it is not stopping to grow. With the recent acquisition of Mellanox, the company now has much bigger opportunities for expansion and growth.

Yeah, Intel could have bought Nvidia at that time just like AMD acquired ATI but unlikely AMD, Intel opted not to and now Intel must be crying out loud in some corner hehe

You're forgetting what Intel's done with most of their acquisitions, except FPGA (Altera) most of their takeover (companies) have ended up disastrously!
Anyone remember McAfee, yeah none does :slap:

Clever company but very, very dubious business practices got them to where they are.

In the early days of PC graphics accelerator cards they used some pretty underhand tactics against its competitors to ensure they survived and others didn't.

Indeed, it's a bubble that sooner or later will burst. Intel, for better or worse, has more opportunities than Nvidia.

Dug up some history with Intel and GPUs

Intel made the first AGP grapgics cards with Real3D and it was an epic fail that killed Real3D, Intel bought its remains while ATI hired a lot of Real3D staff.

Even worse is that they turned down Apple's pitch for the CPU in the first iPhone. Intel did not see the potential of smartphones at the time. ARM is now a major long term threat to their existence.

Intel has form when it comes to these sorts of missed opportunities.

Intel is a company that tries every trick in the book. They take their leisure to putting their right foot forward, until they threw the kitchen sink and the bath tub at the problem. That is about when they have decided upon the said question.

Intel still is a big player in the FPGA landscape on top of being credible enough with x86. There is no doubt Intel has had flops and short comings, but Nvidia and AMD have as well in turn. I think a lot of people undervalue how big Intel's FPGA acquisition was awhile back that will pay dividends to them down the road in a big way. I think x86 is interesting, but just imagine x86 combined with FPGA on a single package you want more performance for that kind of task well just reconfigure the hardware with a software profile. FPGA's are the real deal machine learning.

You want me to go on a wild goose chase? Some Intel executive said that as a joke. I literally cannot find it at this time.

Intel is a company that "tries every trick in the book."
Maybe not 'trick', but like every architectural possibility.
It was in context for some rationalisation of a mishap. I found it peculiar.
It was some short grey haired lady wearing a denim shirt. Need pointers...

Are you saying that ATI did good after been acquired to AMD? ATI would have been on par with Nvidia now if not better! ATI is now 7 years behind Nvidia because they joined AMD

On topic, Nvidia should thank Mining, Covid 19, gambling, rumours and disinformation. Not saying that Intel is better thought. But Nivida is now officially (humanly) worse than Intel.

Edit: Oh and Nvidia should also thank AMD for acquiring ATI and pull it out of the competition

You know, having said, "This has to do with nvidia's stock guidance partners" would have put more weight into the naysayer camp.
