NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3070 performance segment graphics card uses 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory speed, according to the product page of the ZOTAC RTX 3070 Twin Edge (model: ZT-A30700E-10P), and the RTX 3070 DUAL by ASUS. This settles speculation around NVIDIA using the fastest available 16 Gbps GDDR6 memory for the RTX 3070. The company is using the even faster 19.5 Gbps and 19 Gbps GDDR6X memory for the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080, which it co-developed with Micron Technology. The use of 14 Gbps GDDR6 across a 256-bit wide memory bus gives the RTX 3070 the same 448 GB/s memory bandwidth as the RTX 2070. NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 3070 some time in October, with prices starting at USD $499.

The gap between 3070 and 3080 leaves enough room for a 3070 Ti super duper that has 16Gbps memory...

Nvidia is marketing the 3070 as a 1440p GPU, so this somewhat makes sense but I do wonder how it is going to hold up against a 2080Ti at 4K with 37% more bandwidth which is quite significant.

Why would the 3070ti have 16gb of vram and the og 3080 10gb? That seems an odd step.

The standard 6 gets cheaper while the 6X gets more dense chips allowing to fit 20 gigs on the refreshed 3080. I think that's how the "consensus" goes right now. Besides, AMD's probably gonna have a 16 gig card at ~500-550$ so Huang has this to deal with too.

Adding 8GB extra vram should cost almost $100. Rising to 10 ~ 12GB seems closer to reality...

Well, for one GDDR6X is only available in 1GB per chip, whereas GDDR6 is available at 1 and 2GB per chip.

Keep in mind that the 3070 Ti isn't an official product as yet, so the specs available so far are based on rumours and nothing else.

The expected 3080 Ti is rumoured to have 12GB or possibly 20GB of RAM. I guess it depends if it's a 3080 going up or a 3090 going down...

Yeah, gtx 1070 was so good that the TI version of it was 1%~3% faster at best, this time willl be different because the 3070 simply sucks, I think the TI version of it will be a lot better.

The 3080Ti will probably have 20GB of VRAM

nVidia has essentially left enough headroom for Ti variants in case AMD releases equivalent performing cards at a cheaper price point. We might even see price drops on the current cards from nVidia, time will tell.

I think you can forget it being a 3090 die going down. There are already a load of disabled shaders. You'd likely be dealing with REALLY REALLY shitty dies if they were worse than those meeting the minimum requirements for the 3090, of which there will be few anyway.

They'll be hoping yields improve and they can do a 3080Ti with the 3080 die. Doubt it's soon, unless it's again in tiny volumes.

All this talk about RTX 3080 TI. In that case, i hope this is true:D: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3080-ti.c3581

Cause then i might shut not jump on to RTX 3080 to fast. If the specs are true, RTX 3080 TI looks pretty evil at 999 USD. If this is true, my next card is RTX 3080 TI for sure. RTX 3080 has to little amount of Vram and RTX 3090 is to exspensive for me. RTX 3080 TI seems to be that GPU that just have the right amount of vram, ekstra cuda cores and a high but more reasanable price tag.

I would love to buy the 3070, but the cap between the 3080 and 3070 is something like 2816 less. Where the 3090 and 3080 is 1716 less.

They really castrated the 3070! I will wait for RDNA2 to see what is for what.

Nvidia gimped GA104 overall, 3070S won't get far with the full chip. it's like 2080 to 2080S. 2944/5888 14GBps to 3072/6144, give or take 10% performance 6 months later. Woth the wait. Better wait 4070 samsung N5.

I mean from a product stack point of view. 3070ti with 16gb followed by a 3080 with 10gb. They would have to EOL the 3080 in this direction instead of continuing to sell like they did with the 2080 and 2080s.

I feel the respective RTX 3000 models are a good step up from the card they are replacing for the RTX 2000 series. There is certainly more bang for buck when you step up to a 3080, but the price difference is also fairly substantial between the 3080 and 3070. I feel Nvidia widen the gap between their xx80 and xx70 models because the gap is really small between the RTX 2080 and 2070. Which kind of made the RTX 2080 a less attractive option as compared to a much cheaper 2070 and 2070 Super.

maybe because they plan to release a 3080ti down the track?

That is good and all but then you have a really fudged up product stack.

Let's say this:

3060 6gb
3070 8gb
3080 106b

then they do

3060 6gb
3060ti 12gb
3070 8gb
3070ti 16gb
3080 10gb
3080ti 20gb

They would have a seriously jact up product stack. Unless they are having bad yields and have lots of cutdown chips right now. They could launch the cutdown ones and then supersede with ti/super cards and then EOL the OG. I dunno, this is strange.
