It most certainly isn't you or me. They are working for themselves, and as such they don't want to give us the simple `3050 60 70 80 and 90` lineup.

I believe I read somewhere they want to abandon the Ti scheme entirely. a super version would be more likely, but certainly not this year. It remains to be seen if they can supply the demand for the current cards that are launched in a week, let alone come with new models just one or two months after.
As for launching a Ti version before the regular 3060, that wouldn't make much sense either. They can spec it to the Ti variant and call a lesser model 3050 or something. There are plenty of naming choices they can pick from.
Super is fine though. Probably next year, maybe spring, maybe after summer. But not in 2020.

Yeah, divide that by golden ratio. =3072-3584, the remaining 1280-1792 are doing integer mostly. 2080 SUper, for $350 i hope. but with 3070 at $500 and 10% faster. Im not paying $400 for this.

It's not "hate" when it is the truth/reality.... when mfgr's do this kind of lowlife crap, then I have no problem calling it exactly what it is:

G.R.E.E.E.E.D....

Calling something what it is is fine ... calling it what you imagine it is ... well that's something else altogether.

It's called capitalism. The Board of directors / officers of a company are legally bound, within the limits of applicable laws, to obtain maximum return for their investors. While ethical grounds such as environmental impacts and and religious conflicts have carved out some exceptions, the case law from "Dodge v. Ford Motor Company (1919) " remains the primary governing law.

"Most investors were interested in a healthy return on their investment, rather than any type of social good. Shareholders contended that the concern Ford expressed for his workers and customers was both improper and illegal. The court agreed, and Ford was forced to abandon his managerial goal of balancing profits and realizing broader social goals. "

"prices and the distribution of goods and services are mainly determined by competition in goods and services markets"

So why do companies charge what they do ? a) simply because they can b) because they have an obligation to maximize investor return.

So if you want to blame someone ...

a) blame the competition ... if there's a better deal out there no one would pay the higher prices.

b) Blame the people why are responsible for vendors inability to keep cards in stock. Vendors can't make money with products they don't have stock and will only discount proced when supply exceeds demand. A few days ago the 1080 Ti was selling for $2250 ... today it's $1600 ... the MSRP was $1250 at a time. The 2080.... even with a new cheaper 2080 arriving in a matter of days, is still selling for $40 over MSRP.

3060 is the upper part of their product stack now? Not the mid-range?

Yes, sinxe the xx60 / xx60 same into common usage, the xx60 has alwats been considered a midrange card.

Gotta wounder a little if nVidia are getting leaks though AMD, or they don't want to get caught with their pants down like Intel did.

I only look at the card with best performance using a single 8-pin power connector so this looks like progress.

Noice!:) I wonder will it be possible to OC this thingy to RTX 2080Ti performance? Considering RTX 3070 will be faster than RTX 2080Ti.

That would put it too close to the 3070 in performance. They don't want another 1070 Ti situation where it could match the vanilla 1080 in performance with a just a small tweak to the clocks. Who would want to buy a 3070, then? They are probably making these from binned chips that are already running at or near their limit. That's why they are calling them 3060 Ti and not just 3060.

I only look at the card with best performance using a single 8-pin power connector so this looks like progress.
That's me right now as well. I'm looking for an upgrade to my 1080 Founders Edition that doesn't also require a PSU upgrade. I could maybe get away with a vanilla 2070, but if the 3060 is giving 2080 level performance with 2060 power consumption, that makes a used 2070 not so attractive anymore.

There are going to be a lot of sad RTX 20 owners when they are unable to sell their old cards to finance the purchase of a new one.

Miners, order 300 cards per order. Gamer, WTF just happened? Me, see this coming a mile away.
I think miners will be buying up all the 3090 and 3080 cards before they come for the 3060 and 3070's, and if AMD's cards are cheaper, that makes them a better buy for miners.

I guess it makes sense that if NVIDIA has any partly dud chips when making 3070s, they would need a SKU to put them in. So maybe we will see a card like the 3060 Ti eventually. However, I wouldn't expect that to happen until the 3000 series is no longer in short supply - so, instead of it coming out this October, January next year might be more like it.

if the 3060Ti is at $350 while the 3060 is at $300 (same price as the XBSS), then even a used 2080 Super & 2080Ti won't be selling much. RIP those who tried to desperately sell off their overpriced GPU...

And yes, I am walking....straight to my bank, to deposit moar of my money while I wait for all the marketing hype/sku conglomeration to settle down, then I will decide whether to buy a new GPU or not :)

You're not unique in doing so, buddy ;) I agree on most of the sentiment but really... business as usual, shrug and move on.

It makes sense to me that there would be a product like the 3060 Ti, to make use of GPUs for the 3070 that have a few dud cores. But I don't believe that it will be launched in October. That's something that would be offered after NVIDIA can meet demand for the regular 3070, so I would expect a SKU of that nature not to come out until maybe January next year.

really weird random unrelated to anything reply my man.
you can make this reply to anything being said about any product by any company ever sooo its rather pointless, why even bother typing it up?

course they dont work for me....althought they kinda do? I mean I am their customer and if I and others dont like these practices that means no money for them soooo yeah.

What if others don't like their practices but they have no other choice (i.e. no alternative)? I mean certainly they do always have and have had an alternative up to a point.
For example the last gen you could have an alternative up to 2070 / 2070 Super with the 5700XT, but no alternative up from there for any of nVidia's cards.

I mean don't get me wrong, I don't like their practices just as much as you do, but I see it for what it is, a business endeavor, nothing else.

The number of claimed CUDA cores means Jack Shit. The only metric is gaming performance.
lol.. did you see the part where I said "TO ME" now figure out what i might do with it :) apart from gaming, so those cuda cores mean a lot to me..

"4,864 CUDA cores"
Its going to be tempting for me.

Just don't forget Half the FP32 cores are shared with INT. They doubled FP for anytime those cores are not doing INT, if you are doing 50% int 50% FP you half the cuda core count in respect to turing.
Games are ~25% int so a 4,864 CUDA core ampere is equivalent to ~3648 Turing cuda cores while gaming... depending on the compute mode split. 16 core buckets.
