CORSAIR Launches 4000 Series of Mid-Tower Cases

CORSAIR, a world leader in high-performance gaming peripherals and enthusiast components, today launched the new 4000 Series of enthusiast PC cases, introducing three new models to its award-winning lineup - the 4000D, 4000D AIRFLOW, and iCUE 4000X RGB. The 4000 Series sees a new naming convention for CORSAIR cases, with a Series number defining form-factor and core features, and an identifier to signify each model's unique characteristics, making it easier than ever for customers to choose a case that matches their build's priorities.

Whether PC builders choose the minimalist styling of the 4000D, the enhanced airflow of the 4000D AIRFLOW, or the added tempered glass and RGB lighting of the 4000X RGB, they'll discover a PC case loaded with innovative features. The new RapidRoute cable management system makes it easy and fast to hide your cables out of sight for a clean build, while new fans equipped with CORSAIR AirGuide technology deliver focused airflow for enhanced cooling.



Included with 4000 Series cases are fans with new AirGuide technology, adding anti-vortex vanes that concentrate airflow in a conical shape, targeting areas in the case where your hottest components sit and improving cooling. The 4000D and 4000D AIRFLOW include two 120 mm AirGuide fans, while the 4000X RGB includes three 120 mm SP RGB ELITE AirGuide fans with eight individually addressable RGB LEDs per fan, along with an iCUE Lighting Node CORE controller.

With all three cases offering the same great interior and build experience, the front panel is where PC builders will find the key differences to help them match their build's needs. The 4000D features a minimalist solid steel front panel for superb durability and sharp looks, with dedicated ventilation channels on either side. The 4000D AIRFLOW's front panel goes even further with striking triangular cutouts in the steel panel that allow for optimal air intake. The 4000X RGB combines style with substance, offering a tempered glass front panel with dedicated ventilation channels to show off the lighting from its three SP RGB ELITE fans.

All 4000 Series cases offer ample room for cooling, fitting up to 6x 120 mm fans or 4x 140 mm fans. Their spacious interior can accommodate up to a 360 mm radiator in front or a 280 mm in the roof (dependent on RAM height). 4000 Series cases have 2x 2.5in SSD mounts and 2x 3.5-in HDD trays for your storage needs, a modern front panel I/O including a USB 3.1 Type-C port, and a tool-free tempered glass side panel to offer a fantastic view of your system and its lighting.

Corsair should bring back the Carbide 500 and Vengeance C70 series cases. They were the best cases Corsair (or anybody else) ever made in my opinion. These newer ones all look like toys and don't have close to the cooling efficiency the 500 and C70 did.

I see you're a huge fan of very plasticy cases then?
Best case ever made is easily the Palo Alto PA-810. Unbeatable at its time, although it would need quite a few changes to meet modern standards.
As to what's the best case, I guess comes down to what the competition is, but I have never had a case that it was easier to build a system in, thanks to their clip-in solution for the motherboard which only required a single screw to hold the motherboard in place. The rest was tool-less, except the PSU.

Not my system btw.

As the guy who designed those cases, first I'd like to say two things.

1) Thanks! I'm stoked people still remember the 500R and the C70. C70 was really ahead of its time. All metal construction, tool free everything, modular drive cages, up to ten 120mm fans.... dual 240mm rads. Love that thing still.

2) The new 4000D Airflow is actually pretty awesome. I'm using it as my home system now. Steel construction and front panel, REALLY good front airflow, and enough space for my X299 / 2080 Ti build with three drives. Really happy with how the 4000D Airflow turned out.

I mean, I'm biased, since I work here, but still. It's legitimately a good case in my opinion. Cheers.

what cases need are like the evolv x, ability for vertical gpu without losing the standard pci slots. i have my card vertical and still have my wifi and soundcard in

I really like the 4000X case. The cable management it offers is really nice and the addition of the vertical mounting as well.

I still have two 500R's and a C70 in daily use. The removable top panel on the 500R was a stroke of genius. I took the panel out and top mounted my Corsair H105's w/ 4 Silverstone FM110's in push-pull to give more room inside the case plus have the fans & radiator outside for better cooling. The clip-on mounting side panels on the C70 are fabulous. A 500R with C70 side panels would be my perfect case as would a C70 with the removable 500R top panel. The fact I was getting them from Newegg for $59 after the $30 mail in rebate was icing on the cake.

Some of us still use optical drives plus like being able to add fans in the side panel. All of my great Corsair cases have two Silverstone FHP141's running at full speed (171 cfm each) in the side panel. Being able to push a lot of air through the cases keeps the Xeons and Extreme Edition CPU's I use for A/V production nice and cool.

If at all possible reissuing those cases would be a great idea and there's no doubt Corsair would sell plenty of them. I'd snap up a C70 with a 500R type removable top panel in a heartbeat. My current C70 is the powercoated white while my 500R's are one white and one black. Thanks for two truly outstanding cases.
