Crysis Remastered brings a major graphical overhaul to the original Crysis which was launched in 2007 and was known for its high system requirements. Crysis Remastered introduces new graphic features and high-quality textures along with API-agnostic ray tracing for PC. The game features updated textures with up to 8K resolution, Global Illumination (SVOGI), state-of-the-art depth of field, new light settings, and motion blur effects. The game is set to feature an 8K "Can it Run Crysis" mode which will challenge even the highest-end PC hardware.

Crysis Remastered is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One on 18th September 2020. You can find the "Crysis Remastered - Official 8K Tech Trailer" in full 8K 60FPS down below.

It would be nice if they do the same for other titles as well. some old games are very good and need to have better graphics and should be remastered for high resolutions.

The textures are magnificent, the particles look good too so do the reflections, but the models lack polygons, a lot of them.
I have a question though, how in the name of all that's holy in Chrome (8K) my hopeless RX5700 drops frames like hell, but in edge it works smoothly??

Edge uses the GPU much better. It can also apply image sharpening through the GPU.

315 MB for a 1m 45s 8K60 video file is rather small.

What about Steam?
Yep, steam will be rendered from the trains etc.

And so it begins....

The collusion between GPU mfgr's & game makers to push each others stuff to da max so everyone will have to upgrade/buy new stuff if they wanna play anything current/new at higher res/fps.....

And now we need to run crysis in "Can it Run Crysis" mode to see if our machines can run crysis......whodathunkit

Given that the switch runs it at 720p with not too many visuals disabled ... nah.

Could also be Chrome using weird codecs. Using Chrome here on a laptop 1050 and it was smooth (well besides my internet not liking it)

Not in their hands, got to ask Ubisoft but considering they have just re-skinned FC2 for years I doubt they have the inhouse skill.

That would be great, and fix the annoying IA.

You played it in 8K? Because in 4k it runs smooth with no issue.
Ironically your card can decode things that even the 1080ti can't, nVidia in their wisdom.
Edit:brain fart or auto-correct.

Time to get used to it.

Not if Apple and Google rakes them through the coals in court. I hate Apple, Google and Epic, so it's great to see three horrible tech giants fighting among each other. In this particular case, I want to see Epic put in its place because their stance with preorder PC games is fundamentally anticompetitive to consumers.

I have to agree - although I have nothing against the remastered Crysis, it's a fact that out of all the games from that era (and quite a bit later as well) it almost certainly needs it the least. Just the other day I was at a friend's place and he had just installed it again (exactly in anticipation of the remaster - he's a huge fan of the series which I've never really been) and I have to say, it still looks great at 1440p and everything maxed out. The only real problem is its incredible single thread dependency - you rarely see more than 70 fps in most cases, unless looking at the sky (this wasn't helped by his 3700x, but still, I've never really seen more than about 85 anyway, regardless of cpu)

I think that might work out a bit different than you're hoping for. The idea of anticompetitive to consumers is also a bit misguided. Stores have exclusive products, its not new and very common. The real question is why you choose to tie yourself to a, or specific, stores. That is the choice you have and make as a consumer. It ends right then and there really.

With regards to Apple and Google... if you're talking anticompetitive? That's what they do exactly. They've created a gateway with a massive toll to pass, they buy out startups, and control the ecosystem. You have no consumer choice once you've picked a device of either brand. One gateway only. Epic is a gateway on a platform that is otherwise entirely open - the PC has numerous similar gateways to games/content and they all compete on equal grounds. What Epic is now going to court for, is trying to force that situation on the other devices that deliver (mostly the same!) content. Its really a very common sense idea.

Might want to adjust your logic a bit.

Actually, you need to adjust yours. I'm not tying myself to a store, Epic is removing any choice for the consumer to buy a game (they didn't develop or publish) from other stores. There aren't many game stores, but there are certainly more than one, though that's not the case when Epic steals preorders for games out from under other stores they may have already been set up for presale at. That is the definition of anticompetitive. Don't try to claim "But the developers get more money from Epic!" Sure that's all well and good, but consumers as a group only care about price and availability. As a large group they do not care about the conditions behind that game... see Walmart's rise to retail dominance as an example of this group behavior. No one has boycotted any of the other game stores, including brick and mortar, because they collect 30% of the game revenue. Seriously, I have no idea how any of you Epic supporters can pull off these mental gymnastics to defend the removal of consumer choice as somehow being better than having an actual non-binary choice.

I don't know about y'all, but I was sick of this game by the second time I played it, over a decade ago. I don't think I finished it or any of it even more disappointing sequels, which will probably be remastered next.
