Intel's Xe HPG discrete GPU made its debut in a game's system requirements list. Frictional Games, developers of "Amnesia Rebirth," put out system requirements lists for the game. Easy on graphics hardware, the first-person survival horror can make do with Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics, which features in the minimum system requirements list next to the HD 5750 from AMD and GTX 460 from NVIDIA. Things get interesting, however, with the recommended system requirements list, where we see what is possibly the first mention by a game dev of the Intel Xe HPG discrete GPU. What's even more interesting is that the Xe HPG is pitted next to the AMD Radeon RX 580 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (which compare to the RX 5500 XT and GTX 1660 Super from the current-gen). We don't know if game devs have access to Xe HPG engineering samples, but this listing gives us a peek at what the devs expect out of the Xe HPG.

I wonder how much do you have to pay someone to have them list your vaporware in the system requirements of their product. I gotta say, somehow Intel always surprises me in terms of this bizarre form of advertising that they pull off.

Mind boggling.

all joking aside, if Intel's first discrete gpu can do RX580 levels of performance I would be very impressed, granted the price and power consumption are (much) better then an RX580 of course.

The fact that the gtx 680 is being listed near a RX 580 (wich was the gtx 1060 opponent) tells me that the recommended specs are a bit all over the place :

Wow, nice one. GTX680 (4GB) is at GTX1050 level, just sometimes nipping at GTX1050TI, and only in really old games.
Far, far below both 5500XT and especially GTX 1660 Super (which now mostly surpasses GTX1070 in newer games).

Anyhow, considering min/recommended sys requirements and the unknown that is Intel's Xe HPG, I wouldn't read a lot into it, it's all over the place.

Intel was giving away their gpus to game devs so they can get familiar with the architecture and work on optimizations. It is in their best interest since there is a high chance, they will be also in Intel laptops and the majority of sold laptops are the ones equipped with Intel HW. So maybe stop being a simpleton and use your brain. Difficult task, we know.

Only simpleton here with his brain idling might be you. It was the DG1 which was supposedly meant to be shipped to some select software developers (whatever that even means or if it even happened). Xe-HPG was detailed something like two months ago with no word on samples or anything like that.

Well i think they ment XE-LP if the HPG is a new RX580 intel can just give up now.

Depends on how much it costs to produce, and how cheaply it can be sold. I've been generally pessimistic about Xe, but I think that if RX580 performance could be had from intel for 90 or 100 bucks, it might actually be a good start .

I think this game is OpenGL, considering that AMD Window OpenGL driver is legendary, maybe the recommended specs do make sense.

Well i replaced my GTX 770 2GB (GTX 680 rebranded) by a RX 580 8GB. On paper, the spec are very close in term of raw performance and bandwidth but the RX 580 is much faster even in OpenGL.

i think they probably had a look to raw spec instead.

Being listed under recommended system requirements is not a bad start. I just hope it's a serious effort not just branding stuff as gaming :shadedshu:

DG1 is uses the same microarchitecture "XE LP" which aims for these 3 segments : ultra mobile, laptop and gaming. If you are technically illiterate, don't comment on things you have no clue about. Thanks.

List does not mean same performance in this case.
Intel doesn't have anything else than LP & HPG currently, since LP is too slow for recommended specs the developers put HPG.

"Technically illiterate" ? Seems like you're illiterate period.

DG1 and Xe HPG are worlds apart, totally different implementations. First you claim these have somehow been given to developers when they haven't, then you change the subject and talk about architecture. EU arrangements, interconnects, memory subsystems, power envelops, etc are all part of the architecture too genius. DG1 and Xe HPG are not the same thing in any context.

A smart thing to do right now would be to stop embarrassing yourself.

I don't think it it really speaks much on the Intel's performance. They probably listed it there since they know that card should be up to the task and Intel currently doesn't have a better match.

Could be a 100% match for the 680, could be 300% faster. Would still be the recommended card from Intel since it's all they have (that they know of).

Like the comments have said, you've lost me at GTX 680 & RX 580 being in the same system requirements.
