Microsoft Confirms 120 FPS Update For Halo Master Chief Collection on Xbox Series X/S

Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be receiving a next-generation upgrade for the Xbox Series X/S. The upgrades include 120 FPS support in Campaign & Multiplayer game modes along with split-screen improvements. These updates are similar to the improvements found in the PC version of the game which has been progressively releasing. The Xbox Series X version will also be receiving 4K support when the upgrade launches on November 17th as a free update for owners of the game. The Halo: The Master Chief Collection will also be available through Xbox Game Pass and contains Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4.

They already had frame pacing issues with 60 fps, imagine this with 120.

I was just thinking: on PC this is at most a config file edit, not something newsworthy.

And I especially love how everybody is throwing "120fps" and "4k" around wrt to next-gen consoles, when it is clear neither console has the HP to do both at the same time without a healthy amount of upscaling.

While it is a marketing gimmick, it is actually also possible to do both 120fps @4K at the same time. Just don't expect even a Xbox360/PS3 level of graphical fidelity. As it is now, the only games I could think off at the top of my head that can do this prolly Minecraft & other 2D/indie games. Other than that, for "normal" games, the offer is just either 4K or 120fps but not both.

History repeats... the PS4 was a genuine 1080p 60 FPS machine of destruction. The Xbox too...well... 900p. And both with lots of TAA... oh yeah and half the FPS, if you didn't fall back to 20-25.

But this time... this time its really REALLY fasterest.

The PS3 was fun too. The perfect media center console... that didn't play half the codecs worth a damn, had a browser experience that was worse than the first capacitive smartphone, and a bluray player that broke down in two years.

I was entertaining the idea of getting a Series X, but as of now there are no games, the same goes for the PS5, worse still we haven't seen any impressive next gen game running, it's pathetic.
