This alongside the prospective 3070 Ti will be the primary competition for AMD. The Navi 21 XTX will fall roughly short of the 3080 and the 72CU/64CU variants will do battle with these two cards.
Nah, 21XTX will be much slower than that, barely able to keep up with the cancelled 3070ti. Oh wait...

I think you mean with reasonable prices :)
Thanks, I'm losing my neurons fast...

AotS = Attack of the Show? :p

Loved that show.

AMD will come out with a card thats single digit performance difference while being $100+ lower price.
Nvidia cant price newer mid-cards(below x80) less than top end(ti+) previous gen cards. its against their marketing rules.
Not sure about that, I don't believe people are that dumb, when Zen2 released it topped sales, if AMD's GPUs are as good as the leaks suggest they'll put pressure on nVidia, which could lead to a change in their strategy.
Or, AMD will just copy nVidia's pricing and we'll be fucked by both.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
AotS is the single most CPU-limited game I can think of, and therefore one of the worst GPU benchmarks that currently runs for measuring any GPU.

if AMD follows its own pricing history, we can speculate that its offerings will be cheaper than Nvidia, especially since the 30xx series just cam out. AMD will undercut here.

For 800$ it's not good at all, it's even worse than the 2070s (which was between 500-600$). Ampere's a disaster, very high MSRP, no availability so even higher prices, low vram.
Hopefully AMD will deliver a true performance uplift with reasonable prices.
It's not going to be $800. The 3080's are less than that. It'll be at or around $550 to $600.

Just checked the 3080 is still about 1050$ in nVidia's website.
Considering that NVidia is no longer selling direct to the public, it doesn't matter what price they have listed. Additionally, Newegg's prices are mostly under $800. Two of them are right at $700. Please review;

Yeah, no. None of these '$700' Ampere cards are in stock. None of the under $800 cards are in stock. This is the whole issue with Nvidia and this launch.

Once new stock arrives, prices will be updated and I can tell you there will be no $700 cards listed.

If and when these become available - It will not be for the MRSP. Not ever.
Just like the 3080.
Please stop spreading FUD and lies.
Just because a product is sold out, doesn't mean you can't find somewhere to order one at MSRP and get yours in turn.

I don't encourage anyone to buy products with inflated prices.

I'm not blind, it's listed for 10800yen (1050$) and when available (sometimes it is), it's around 11000yen. There is justification for this price because Turing and all kind of electronics from AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, LG... sale their products for similar prices as the US, only Ampere is overpriced.

Thats what was said when the RTX2000 series launched and I had no problems getting a 2080 for $750 a few months after release. Patience is a virtue.
Well, I can just tell you there is only one shop in the EU where I live that lists the Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 in stock for 1999€, that's $2371. What was the card at MSRP again? $1500? Maybe there is a bit of EU tax in there but usually it's nowhere near as big of a difference. $100 at most.

Yeah, most of Europe gets prices generally on par with what North America gets. Of course, there are some exceptions..

Before you factor in VAT, sure. That's 17-27% depending on where you are in the EU. If it's 20%, that's $300 USD added to a $1,500 product, making it $1,800. That's a big increase.

It's the case elsewhere for no logical reason other than nVidia stupidity with Ampere.
Beyond the stupid prices, the 3080 is overpriced even at 700$, the 1070 was faster and had more memory than the 980ti for less than 400$, what's weird is no so called reviewers are talking about it, some are even falling for nVidia marketing (or are being paid) by comparing Ampere prices to Turing.

Is it that reviewers are falling for it, or those not in the know and don't have an open mind, just don't know? People believe, with a passion, the earth is flat... but science. Similar here...some choose not to believe the facts for w/e reason.

$700 (msrp)flagship and a pricey t8tan/crossover card has been the norm for the past couple of generations, no?

The RAM 'issue' was DOA for those in the know as well.

Local market (EU) and the listing are like 3080: from 1000+€ (1185$), 3090: from 1900+€ (2255$). And all for pre-orders, non at stock...

Do you know how much is the 1800$ in €€€? Let me tell you... Its 1520€ and you cant find here a 3090 for less than 1900€. Well you cant find it at all... because only preorders exist. No cards.
3080: 700$ + 25% VAT is 875$ = 737€. And you cant find any (preorder) for less than 1000€.

Well done nVidia!!

Well, it said arriving within 3 days for the one I saw. That almost counts as in stock. But who knows it's maybe just a bug in the site.
