Europe really get the short end of the stick eh, from what I read Microcenter in the US get 100+ of 3070 in each of their store.
Here in South East Asia we get plenty of Ampere stock, though the prices are jacked up sky high. Seems like AIBs are all together on this where they only supply the premium models, while the lower end model like Asus TUF non OC is nowhere to be found (the TUF OC edition is 200usd more  ).

This is a disaster. 3 months late in the game. I don't remember NV ever had such a crappy release. Ever.

Yeah, that is another thing. For me its pretty cleat that the 700$ for 3080 and 500$ for the 3070 were just broadfaced lies by Huang. Now with the (artificial or real, nobody knows) limited supply it seems legit to just ask for 40% more. Pretty interesting marketing tactic isn't it, say cards are 500, so every media outlet praises great value for money comparet to RTX2000 and then just sell them for 40% more anyways ;)

It wasn't a lie. The MSRP is always what the they say it is but since there is no available items and people pre-order, the prices go up when the product is in short supply. That's just normal stuff.

Available now (for pre-order).

Yeah, this is bad. For RTX 3080/ 3090, they can blame it on Micron for not delivering sufficient GDDR6X. But with RTX 3070 where its using widely available GDDR6, the most likely culprit for short supply may be Samsung fab. The RTX 3070 is expected to be a high volume part, so the lack of stock till Dec/ Q1 2021 is a bad sign.

Only in this case Nvidia don't get the 40% increase in profit. My take is that they are selling the GPUs to their AIB at the original price, but because of the severe shortage, AIB can sell it at a higher price. Even if Nvidia limits the price that AIB can sell, it does not mean that the distributor or shop will not mark up for their own profit.

In any case, Nvidia's Ampere launch just backfired on them due to poor availability. The card performance is very good, but no point for a good card that you cannot get. If this situation persists. they are going to lose market share to AMD.

I'm very much skeptic about the samsung 8nm node to be blamed. This node is in the production for over 2 years. It has matured enough and the yields are good. I don't think that is the reason. The die for 3070 is not that big as you would expect. So I don't think that's Samsung's 8nm node problem. (It is not great but that's beside the point)

oh it's available now eh?:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
Of course, because nobody wants to buy it. (check yesterday's RX6000 series announcement :D)
I just checked the gh.de website (for Germany) and there were 3070s in stock at one shop, and I wasn't even fast at all.
Go figure.

Forgot to mention that the price is 590€, so pretty much like 6800 but with lower performance and 8GB less VRAM. A hard pass.

Do you think Radeons will really be faster? And basically delivered at the same time?

Possibly, but considering the cheapest card announced starts at $580 bucks who cares. It could come with a free Dr Lisa Su sex doll, but I'm not spending that much cash.

Sure and it is better than 3070 but noticeable margin. BTW the 3070 not only will be available in my area in January but also its price is $680 so go figure.
to bad NV didn't get the stocks right this time around. Would have been a better competition.

Yeah there was more stock than I thought yesterday, I'd hoped AMDs announced cards would make people wait but no such luck, all sold out in no time.

It's probably a lot of people with too much money on their hands and no patience, especially with the stimulus money handouts.

I think a lot would still agree that the cooler on the big card is again ugly, not to mention they have that EK CSQ nonsense dots on the fans of all 3 cards too. Some actual stuff to hate for ya.

Some cards are available in where I live, people probably aren't buying them after seeing that the prices don't really line up with even close the "500 in cash" figure Nvidia came up with.

As for RTX Voce, you might as well get some fancy Tascam DSP and an equally as fancy mic rather than buying a card with jacked up tax prices. That's going to give you A LOT better mic experience than RTX voice.

Lets not talk about esthetics. That is fools errand in my opinion. Besides, a lot of people will go water with reference cards, including myself or buy AIB :) If i get the card that is.
