We're happy and excited to announce that we are partnering with Intel to provide the best possible performance and optimization for our PC players in HITMAN 3. Together with Intel, we are working to optimize the game for launch and beyond, with updates, tweaks and improvements coming throughout 2021 that will improve the experience of playing on a high-end PC and multi-core CPUs.

These optimizations include enhancing HITMAN 3 for PC players with 8+ core CPUs, for example you'll be able to spot more crowds in Dubai or experience more complex destructibility in Dartmoor. We're also introducing Variable Rate Shading (VRS), a technique that allows us to prioritize GPU resources where they have the biggest impact. On top of that, we will also implement raytracing after the launch of the game, later in 2021.

Generally games that are optimized for a specific platform is almost like saying I am developing a game that will leave a bunch of people with less optimized experience. This game being an EPIC and Intel exclusive is unlikely to see a high take up rate.

Unless there are fine-grained toggles, this could be a way to bog down AMD's >8 core CPUs and make 8-core Rocket Lake look better.

Yet another scheme. Somehow I have a serious distrust for Intel when news like that appear.

Or maybe nobody gives two flying fucks about it at all.

I've seriously never bothered to even think about or look at whatever brand pops up before the intro. of a game. If its truly a feature gap, sure. But that's not usually the case and when it is, its hardly ever worth caring about.

Unless there are fine-grained toggles, this could be a way to bog down AMD's >8 core CPUs and make 8-core Rocket Lake look better.

Yeah because Hitman was always super CPU limited?

The irony!

Yep, it usually means the game or software will be severely gimped for AMD users.

Haha, too little too late.

While Intel was raking in profits during Skylake period their BIG selling point for not releasing more cores was "Four cores is enuf for home use and gaming, you don't need more" so the message was more or less, because we can we will rip you off selling four cores at overprice as long as possible even if we have to cripple the overall PC market to do it.

With no competition, increasing prices and shrinking silicon with only four cores Intel made a killing in desktop cpu market.

They also held back the many core evolution unnecessarily for over 10 years and at the same time almost running the PC market in to the ground because there was no innovation anymore.

Now Intel is panic scrambling everything they can muster to try to be relevant again, not saying it is a bad thing BUT it is too little too late.

They screwed over their customers so many times that it will take A LOT more that a Hitman game with many core support to rebuild their image again.

Sadly people are with short memory. Besides, apart from some tech geek circles the majority of sheeple are still delusional that intel is the best they can get. And to help it, intel's shady practices are far from over.

And I'm not even talking about home users here. I know many sysadmins and architects that won't put anything other than intel in their systems, just because. Even though math clearly says that in enterprise the TCO and performance of AMD systems is clearly superior.

Intel's nifty compiler optimizations that detect non "GenuineIntel" CPUs and select a slower code path confirmed ?

Hitman's engine is really strange already, there have been some pretty odd performance figures for AMD CPUs in the past.

I don't get it. Are they saying their developers are so incompetent, they need Intel to write the multithreaded code for them? What am I missing here?
