Newegg listings indicate Corsair is ready with the MP600 Core and MP600 PRO HydroX, which they state release later today. The MP600 Core is an M.2 NVMe SSD that's a cost-effective variant of the MP600 PRO. Built in the M.2-2280 form-factor, the drive takes advantage of PCI-Express 4.0 x4, but unlike the MP600 PRO, uses QLC NAND flash memory. The drive uses the Phison PS5016-E16 controller just like the original MP600, but swaps out its TLC NAND flash for QLC. On offer, are sequential transfer rates of up to 4950 MB/s reads, and up to 3700 MB/s writes, up to 380,000 IOPS 4K random reads, and up to 580,000 IOPS 4K random writes.

The MP600 PRO HydroX, on the other hand, is a premium variant of the MP600 PRO that comes with a factory-fitted water block that you connect to your DIY liquid cooling loop. It uses the same combination of the latest Phison PS5018-E18 controller with 3D TLC NAND flash, and offers the same on-paper performance, with up to 7000 MB/s sequential reads, up to 6550 MB/s sequential writes, up to 660,000 IOPS 4K random reads, and up to 800,000 IOPS 4K random writes. The MP600 Core and MP600 PRO HydroX are expected to launch alongside the original MP600 PRO, later this week. Both the MP600 Core and MP600 PRO HydroX are listed on the international stores of Newegg, with the 2 TB MP600 PRO HydroX going for $459, and the 2 TB MP600 Core going for £286 (incl. VAT).

To behonest there IS a need for better cooling the NVMe's since they throttle, but we can agree that watercooling is taking it 3 steps too far :D And as Kohl Bass notes: lifespan will go down if temps are too low on that type of hardware which adds to the insanity

I assume they do. And all the more better for them so that your SSD will kick the bucket earlier, and you need to get new ones faster. Haha.

In my opinion, people that requires SSD with high sequential read/write speed are using their PC for photo/ video editing kind of use case. Chances of these people using custom coolers is quite slim. I feel its mostly gamers that will go custom cooling. So while I agree that NVME SSDs need better cooling, on the other hand, the faster sequential speed makes no tangible improvement for gamers. Game don't run nor load faster with these "fast" SSDs.

whoever buys this will likely need hard tubing because soft tubing is not supportive and any wiggle could physically damage the mounting and/or the ssd itself.

Well the controller needs cooling otherwise it will thorttle, but it seems that NAND has a lower error rate at higher temperatures. If the waterblock is designed that way, then i wont complain. watercool all the things!

It's funny you should say that, because about two years ago I thought: "I bet a RAM cooling block would be perfect for an M.2 SSD" and it actually worked perfectly with one minor modification, but that looks exactly like what corsair has done here in a way, albeit smaller than a RAM block it looks

SSD is a funny thing in this regard. NAND does not like to be below 50°C when writing in opposition with the controller chip which does not like to be warmer than 60°C. The best compromise was a not too big aluminum heatsink which transferred the heat of the controller to keep the NAND warm. This thing is overkill... Unless you have a balanced dual-loop system with 50-55°C water temp for the GPU. That would be absolutely ideal for this.

The MP600 Core using QLC but why?

The regular MP600 uses TLC and the same controller so why would you buy the QLC version.

Holy cow, did any of you took any EE classes? Or just plain engineering grade physics?

Any flash based storage system benefits from lower operational temperature for longer lifespan, because the inherit resistance is lower thus cell degradation during destructive flash process is lesser.
