One person is all that stands between humanity and the greatest threat it's ever faced. BioWare, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. today revealed that the Mass Effect Legendary Edition will launch May 14 worldwide on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition features the single-player base content and 40+ downloadable content (DLC) story, weapons and armor packs from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 and will allow players to relive the legend of Commander Shepard in 4K Ultra HD with HDR.

"It's been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original," said Mac Walters, Project Director on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and lead writer of the original trilogy at BioWare. "Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there's over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard."

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will deliver an enhanced visual experience featuring remastered character models and tens of thousands of up-ressed textures. Improvements to shaders and VFX, updated lighting and improved dynamic shadows, volumetrics and depth-of-field add a new level of immersion across the trilogy. Pre-rendered cinematics have also been enhanced to make every story moment feel even more impactful.

The original Mass Effect game features comprehensive world-building enhancements with added detail and depth to locations like Eden Prime, Ilos and Feros that players will explore in their journey across the galaxy. Mass Effect also includes updated interfaces and UI as well as a variety of quality of life improvements. In addition, combat and exploration are modernized through improved aiming, squad controls and behavior, Mako handling and cameras.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition features unified character creation options that persists across all three titles and is complete with an improved and expanded selection of hair, makeup and skin tone options. The iconic Female Shepard default appearance from Mass Effect 3 is now available as the default female Shepard appearance in character creation in all three games, further adding to the unified experience across the trilogy.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB and is available now for pre-order on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with forward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

I was planning a third complete playthrough already and this will be great for that.:)

Also curious how it will look compared to the last time when I played with mods, also other differences vs original game.

from what i've seen, they mostly redid the first ME, which out of the 3 was the most outdated.

changed ME1 gameplay/interface/visuals/animations
ME2 and 3 had less to do and is mostly just texture/fx/lightning effect changes. (no gameplay changes)

everything related to Texture and video is basically the same quality as the 4k mods that currently exists.

i think they overdid lightning effects, feels like a Star Trek 2009 flares all over the place which i find ugly.

Basically most of the work went to ME1. 2 and 3 just got a visual lifting and that's pretty much it.

It looks disapointing as a remaster to be honest, i wont buy it, especially that they have no offer for previous owner of all games+dlc which i am. and i'm not paying another 60$ to get the trilogy twice in my library.

I am still trying to figure out if these remasters will have raytracing. This universe will greatly benefit from it.

nope nope nope, the first was ok, the second was meh, and the third is garbage so I expect this serving to be no less than garbage, it's got the taint of EA all over it, it won't be finished, won't be polished, and will be clunkier than a man in 2 suits of armor

I see the Mass Effect trolls are out in force as usual. Mass Effect 1 with the updates might be considered some people's favorite of the trilogy. I consider Mass Effect 2 to be the best game of the decade, with unrivaled character stories. And Mass Effect 3 though having some problems has most of the strengths of the other games. Amazing DLCs, amazing music, and the best cover shooting gameplay of any game of its type. Better than Halo and Gears of War. The best Sci-fi game series ever.

What it also attracts are the constant whiners. Mass Effect was one of the first games to be set up as the internet's whipping boy, a subject of constant mockery meanwhile 10 million people love the series as the best games ever made.

If they do a good job updating the games and don't alter the story or add new monetary schemes to the games, I will probably buy this, I do hope they fix the bug in ME3 where you get stuck behind Joker on the Normandy.

Agreed! I can think of a ton of games that could really benefit from RTRT and the ME series is near the top of the list!
No it will not. Thare are some new visual effects tho such as AO on all 3 games.
Oh yes it will.

Same going to use it as mental eyewash for that trash Andromeda.
While it was not the best entry in the series, calling it "trash" is a massive overstatement.

Nah it was trash. There was no RPG in it. It was just a third person action game with some cool combat moves and exploration. Story? Forgettable. It ends where it should end a prologue. You spend a whole game scouring planets to find something... credit roll. It was the most disappointing thing I ever experienced, well perhaps MGSV's story can top that one for how it 'ends'.

Its just lazy as hell, there is no talent in it. They put some level designers to the task of designing a bunch of maps, created some hubs to travel between and that's that. Another thought I had at the end of it was, 'I learned absolutely nothing new about the ME universe'. While the first trilogy was filled to the brim with lore.

Completely subjective opinion and point of view. That would be like saying that Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was trash because it was aimed at and for RPG beginners. It would also be like calling Legend Of Zelda 2 trash because it was a side-scrolling RPGish type game and not a pure adventure like the original.

Oh yes it will.
Sorry to dissapoint but no it will not have RT. I dont know where people get their delusions.

As for the dude posting here about ME being trash - classic troll. Nothing to back up their statement. Problably one of those gambling zombies from FIFA.

I was not commenting on whether or not RTRT would be present, just whether or not it would be of benefit.
Yes my wording was not great on that. Obviously it would benefit from it. Well i guess that will happen in 2031 when they will make a full remake on UE6 or some other engine. By that time we should hopefully have powerful RT hardware and possibly decent path tracing capable hardware too.

Fair point. However, the above statement by Totally was stated as though they were definitive facts when they are not even close.
Yeah.... if this is your first day on the internet that is how you can read that comment...

Come on man. You just committed the same offense, stating your opinion as fact. Its how people state opinions. Get over it.

I'm that dude, just wanted to say learn to read. I said Andromeda is trash not ME, even praised ME in the same sentence. As for not backing up my statement, I'll reply with a question: Why do I need to beat a dead horse that has long since been buried? It was absolutely, bland and boring with almost no plot and the tiny bit that was there was just a rehashing of ME1's intro. It's a single player game that failed to entertain I don't see whats wrong calling something that clearly fails at its purpose 'trash'.

So they are being politically correct by giving a greater range of skin tones?
