ZOTAC's official Twitter channel has posted an image that promotes the usage of its graphics cards in mining environments. Under the caption "An army of #ZOTACGAMING GPU's hungry for coin!", the company posted an image of a cryptocurrency mining farm populated with its graphics cards. The usage of a gaming hashtag in the post just adds insult to injury, with the picture showcasing at least eight of its GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Edge graphics cards on mining duties.

Of course, for ZOTAC, its cards being re-purposed for mining isn't a make-it-or-break-it affair: the company makes money selling its products to gamers or miners alike. However, considering how global supply of the latest gaming-branded graphics cards has been constrained ever since the initial RTX 3000-series launch, it seems that this Tweet might have been a misstep on the company. It's bound to attract crosshairs towards a seemingly unjust distribution of graphics cards in the market, with several would-be users of their gaming-branded graphics cards being left out in the cold regarding the primary purpose these graphics cards are developed and marketed for: gaming. The company has in the meantime deleted the Tweet.

I would say that is an understatement. Not sure who they are trying to appeal to there, but I can't imagine any #gamers trying to purchase products for #pcgaming are very impressed by the tweet.

Do companies really sell those cards? Or are they holding them to mine for themselves?

Do you guys seriously think gaming count ?? i'll spell it for you : sales matter, miners are easy money !

Exactly, they put the cards out on the market, they don't care who buys them. You can't get mad at a company for that.

Zotac is doing what every other manufacturer is doing: selling a good part of their production to the miners.

That isn't the issue. The issue is them posting pictures of mining rigs accompanied by a bunch of hashtags aimed at gamers. Of course that's going to upset people who've been waiting for months trying to get a card. At the very least it's an incredible marketing blunder, which explains why they deleted it so quickly. Whether you want to actually "blame" companies for taking the quick and easy money is entirely irrelevant. But hey, always got to be some highly intelligent contrarian "just playing devil's advocate" for [random corporation] after they screw up. Give yourself a pat on the back, smart guy.

Exactly, and I wouldn't be surprised that many of the produced card were sold to the highest bid in the first place.
Cards sells +50 to +100% to miners, at least. Why sell them to common customer instead of investors ?

Sad but awfully true.

Insult is the fact that AIB partners and Nvidia (not sure about AMD here, but wouldn't surprise me if they did something similar) selling swaths of GPUs to private parties on the backside. They decimated a large portion of available GPUs from the get go for miners and/or scalpers. Everyday consumers that are looking to upgrade are now screwed unless they have some in, get really lucky to be at the right place and right time to get a new GPU from online or a brick & mortar store or buy from a scalper that botted the hell out of sites to buy a shit ton of GPUs...or they got a shit ton directly from the manufacturers.

This tweet from Zotac is just a horrible step in the wrong direction of the current status of GPU availability across most of the world for everyday consumers....it's almost like they're saying "F U" to gamers, even though I'm sure that wasn't their intention. My guess is some one at Zotac is all caught up with mining and wanted to showoff what you could do with a bunch of their GPUs. It's just bad form, if you ask me.

Well of course. Anyone who thinks any of these companies (AMD, Nvidia, Intel, and all the AIB board companies) care anything about them (We Love Gamers!) have bought into their marketing BS.

My original comment was more that they produced budget / poor quality products.

Even better, because they are mostly sold out of commercial channels, without any warranty

Nope... Zotac just like others have different tiers of products: from budget to high end

My apologies if I insulted your brand of choice.
Not really a choice.
It was literally the only 3080 available, and after this post I’m not happy about the purchase.
But Zotac has a good tradition in graphic card nevertheless

Well, you can, but it wouldn't do much good unless you like your panties in a bunch/wad. :D

All the partners need something to brag/hype about, thats what this is, what they did is more or less FUD/clickbait.

Discusting. That's all I have to say. We'll Zotac can suck it now. I can understand they want to earn money, but with so many gamers out in the need of a card including me and yet they support miners. That does not give a positive look from me on zotac.

That picture there shows everything that's wrong with these AIBs, they blatantly disregard the very costumers who allowed then to have a business in the first place.

This slap in the face to PC hardware enthusiasts is but the latest in a series of blows to us as costumers, we financed these companies, with our hard earned money, so they could just take advantage of their access to this type of hardware and laugh all the way to the bank while their cards sell to enthusiasts for ridiculous amounts of money.

It's a win-win situation for these companies, and we as costumers are the ones who end up with the short end of the stick.

Nvidia should take notice of this and cut supplies of GPU dies to this particular AIB, but who am I kidding, they don't give a rat's ass either, as they really don't care who purchase their inventory, a sale, is a sale, is a sale...

So sad, I remember when zotac used to be just a minor player in the hardware market, and people used to buy their cards due to them being cheaper than the ones from other AIBs, this is how they repay their costumers.
