Solving the dusty PC cleaning problem

Cleaning the inside of a dusty PC is always a pain in the neck without using compressed air. If you don't have the full compressor and airline setup, which most people don't, then some people use cans of compressed air. However, they're expensive, inefficient, last only a couple of minutes and are terrible for the environment.

I found this USB charged, battery powered hairdryer style compressed air duster on Amazon which looks like a good solution. Gonna check what other models are available and then buy one to try out. You might wanna give this a go.

I’m still using the same wet/dry shop vac that I’ve been using since early 2000 ‘s. A shop vac is great because it blows and sucks air, and you can use it for a million things besides dusting, plus they vacuum water. Also theyre not as over powered as a compressor which can blow capacitors off a board. And theyre cheap

You could always grab a workshop blower from the hardware store for around $50. They're much bigger and can move a lot of air.

But whatever you use I agree with avoiding sealed cans of compressed air, they're a waste of money and discarding the empty cans is a waste of good resources.

Nothing beats taking pc out in backyard and watching a dust cloud formed from cleaning it.

$80 for a USB-powered duster is a bit steep, considering the ED500 is just $10 more. And there's really nothing else quite like the Datavac's power and simplicity.

And considering the Datavac comes with a variety of nozzle shapes and lengths, and this USB-powered one appears to come with none at all, well...

But yes, anything is better than cans of compressed air.

I have a 100litre compressor, but I just use a Dustbuster and a 25mm wide thick paint brush or soft bristle toothbrush if required.

Thanks for the suggestions people, I'll check them out.

As I mentioned, I hadn't set my mind on getting that particular one, it's just that I saw that such a thing existed, so thought I'd share.

I usually clean the pc outside, fresh air does wonders to the pc and after its cleaned i always check for leftover dust particles like this

I always buy the cans, they work well but are expensive. When they freeze up just hold them under hot water for a few seconds.

I clean my PC once every 2 weeks or so, the dust situation is that bad, despite me cleaning my room very frequently and having three dust filters on my case. Every little speck of dust also bothers me. I should probably drop that habit.

Good ol compressed air cans and a cloth are enough to get everything clean.

I have that exact same one and I love it, it works great. Wish it had a flexible tube to get into tight spots though. I also have a DataVac for bigger jobs. I think it's a good investment to buy a device instead of canned air.
It's a bit expensive at first though. I use it for other small things too like cleaning my keyboard.

I was going to link the same thing. This costs £50 here. Probably a lot more powerful too although its not cordless which is the main selling point of the £80 one.
