the problem is this cycle may not end. it's different this time now that major corporations, paypal, mastercard, and visa all allow crypto now... i'm afraid this is the new normal.

Jup if I were a hardcore miner I wouldn't stop when the cryto market crash now, who knows when Bitcoin will rebound like it just did.

If it's the new normal, then (1) discrete/integrated GPUs are dead to gamers, or (2) each game will require a unique licensed key/blob to execute on a GPU eventually, aka hello PCs-turned-console.

No thanks, I'm not a fan of such services but I'd literally rather pay for GeForce Now.

I defiantly have mixed feelings on this. While I think it's great to have anti mining hardware built in I worry about the implications of this being much like Intel's CPU's that are non-K versions. Not being able to bios mod would be viewed as a big negative to me personally because I like to optimize the hardware further with undervolting the different p-state profiles carefully to fine tune performance you both get some additional overclock performance headroom for 3D full load and save power on lower p-state's under lighter GPU workloads.

I do fully feel anti mining hardware built is a positive thing though especially taking into consideration cryptojacking. Being able to hard lock your own hardware from unauthorized tampering is essential in my eyes it's already being abused by some and will become more widespread if it isn't retroactively deterred and prevented.

Cross flashing between RTX cards are still possible I think, or even between CMP cards, just not between RTX and CMP.
Nvidia have blocked BIOS modding since Maxwell
