NVIDIA's New 30HX & 40HX Crypto Mining Cards Are Based on Turing Architecture

We have recently discovered that NVIDIA's newly announced 30HX and 40HX Crypto Mining Processors are based on the last-generation Turing architecture. This news will come as a pleasant surprise to gamers as the release shouldn't affect the availability of Ampere RTX 30 Series GPUs. The decision to stick with Turing for these new devices is reportedly due to the more favorable power-management of the architecture which is vital for profitable cryptocurrency mining operations. The NVIDIA CMP 40HX will feature a custom TU106 processor while the 30HX will include a custom TU116. This information was discovered in the latest GeForce 461.72 WHQL drivers which added support for the two devices.

Nice and about darn time. They can maximize the crypto per/w, make 'em better than anything else and keep it off the the game market.

Chances are these do nothing but makes it so that you can't even get a 1650 anymore.
Being 12nm vs 8nm means it is unlikely to be more efficient than Ampere, all these does is they can sell even more cards to miners.
Most importantly this just ensures that the cards won't be flooding the 2nd hand market after the mining bloom, driving the price of gaming cards down.

I mean, nVidia is wining in all fronts right now lol. Just look at their financial report.
Just make no illusion that they are trying to do anything against miners.

Jesus, what do you expect them to do? I swear, even when a company tries to address an issue (but let's not pretend that Nvidia are our "savior" here, either), people STILL find something to complain about. The 1650 was and still is a shit card. Gamers didn't buy them then and they most likely won't be buying them now.

Just look at the price of even the older RX580s lol, gamers are crying and begging to buy overprice GPUs right now.
There was no issue for nVidia in the first place, they are swimming in money.
What they should do is basically nothing, they are just doing their job as a publicly traded company, maximizing profits.

Maybe you need your own thread crying over the 580s and 1650s man?

Where in my post that make it sound like I personally needs a 580 or 1650?

Right there. And you changed your original post, nice.

Making an observation that 1650s and 580s prices are insanely inflated but is available for now = I want a low end graphics card?
Perfect reading comprehension there.

This sounds like good news. But I wonder if Nvidia is placing new orders for the older 14nm from TSMC or are they just trying to expend their existing inventory of Turing cards. If its the latter, then how long before they run out? Since Nvidia does not specifically mention which architecture they are using for the mining cards, does that mean that they will start using Ampere chips once Turing chip is exhausted? But I think it is still good news for us in the short term.

I would think they're just trying to expend their existing inventory of Turing GPUs, would be my guess.

Right? I'd take a 2060/Super, if only to be able to have access to DLSS. The 16 series doesn't support it :(

Just bought a 2060 for my friend's build for 300usd last month, RTX Turing is worth considering when Ampere is too overpriced, now they are selling 3060 for 800usd

And they never will be or solve anything until they make a mining card that's actually better at mining.

This isn't it.

These are actually worse at mining, still profitable but worse. In other words they're just supplying miners with more products, I wonder if next quarter they'll lie again with a straight face about "gaming revenue".
