No need for 1.5v, that's only if it's pushed hard. You could do some thing like 4.2 @ 1.3v or even less depending on your chip\mobo.


Tell ya what let it run run as default and see what the max speeds areusing some thing like HWinfo64 and use 200MHz lower and see how far you can lower the voltage after each time of testing.

I got mine at 4.4 x6 cores and 4.2 for the other 6 cores at 1.275v, and it's been perfectly fine for a year now.

My 8700k at stock would jump over 1.5v during turbo, normally around 1.52-1.55v.

AMD said its amperage that damages their chips, from all core overclocks. All core at 1.3v is more damaging than stock boosting to 1.5v, because the chip can *dynamically* lower things in milliseconds when it reaches the danger zones... whereas a stock all core OC? 100% all the time at load. safeties disabled.


Run your chip at stock with XMP on, and use a modern benchmark.

What kills a CPU is high wattage over time, obviously. Wattage is voltage x current (Watt's Law). Higher voltage, higher wattage, but equally, lower current, lower wattage. So If you double voltage but halve the current, the wattage is exactly the same (0.75V x 10A = 7.5W vs 1.5V x 5A = 7.5W)
So 1.5V can absolutely be fine if used at very low current loads (such as a single thread boosting once in a while for a background task), as the resulting wattage is low. However, 1.5V will kill a CPU at a full-core load (high current, and thus, high wattage). That's why Ryzen is at 1.5V at idle loads and lowers voltage as current increases. By setting a set voltage in BIOS, you're destroying the CPU's ability to dynamically (and safely!) regulate wattage output, which kills performance.
1.5V doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, plenty of CPUs have run at that voltage and much higher without problems. It's only in the context of a set voltage under load that 1.5V on modern CPUs is bad.

No I'm not. All I want to use this cpu for min 5 years that's why I care about it. I don't know your country but here, the ryzens are expensive..

With you controlling the voltage you are gimping your cpu. I have a 3600XT as well, and my board used to feed it 1.525v. Like you I was concerned, so I asked all of these guys here. And they all told me the same thing they are telling you. Just throwing that out there.

since over 25years i am overclocking with air ,water ,dry ice and ln2 and i got one dead cpu - a core2duo e8500. it was a dud i was pushing it too hard.
and yes i overclock my daily rigs and never have probs like you are expecting

I can't say that am I stepping on a troll's mine or not, but I wouldn't say that "way better" when they still use the same process (with hella many +'s) since "5th gen" from 2015.. And they used the same Skylake architecture from i7-6700K to i9-10900K. Yeah, way better indeed when they're overclocked to the max from factory and you underclock your Ryzen even when it behaves like it's meant to.
