During the development of the Eisblock Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900/XT graphic card GPU block, we wanted to further increase the performance. The first step was to move the cooler closer to the individual components by reducing the thermal pads to a thickness of 1 mm. Next, we reduced the thickness of the nickel-plated copper block. Instead of 7 mm, it is now only 5.5 mm thick. The water flow inside the cooler has also been optimized. All important components such as the voltage transformers and the memory are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this ensures a significant increase in cooling performance.

WTH is this? Polka dots edition?

The acrylic version already looks bad cause of all the orings, but this? If those bolts were black, it would look so much better...

It looks boring but I think it's heading in the right direction - speaking of boring: there needs to be less of these see-through components in the market. I think Corsair's XG7's design look great. So does Corsair's XD3. In my opinion, clear construction Water cooling equipment just look awful like your regular clear tube reservoir, EK's GPU waterblocks, etc.

There's a reason why thermal conductivity is measured in W/mK. Thinner block makes for better thermal conductivity. It's better than EKWB who made the RTX 3080/3090 FE blocks thicker and twice as expensive.

You don't get acetal because you want to show it off, you get it so it doesn't crack like plexi/acrylic. This goes in a case with no windows.

Making it thinner :

Thinner means more cuts -> more time + more wasted material
And they have to re-calibrate the tooling
And re-study if the reduced thickness would lead to additional deformation by the stress induced during the manufacturing process.
And more R&D time

So it actually costs more.

about freaking time! I've been asking Alphacool for ages for this version since Alphacool costs a fraction of the price here (China) of what EK (import) costs... got fed up waiting and bought an EK acetal block for my 6800XT for $350 including all shipping and imports costs.... Where the Alphacool would have cost me $115 (acrylic). Would have just as happily have bought this one...

And did I ever comment on the materials used? No, just the colour - those silver bolts just make it look ridiculous.
