The witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. That said I would not pay more than $20 for CP2077. It's definitely not worth a GPU purchase just to run the game.

Witcher 3 was good aye, put a fair ~170+ hours in my first complete playthrough and had pretty much no issues whatsoever with the GOTY editon. 'also had a texture mod installed'
After that I went back and played Witcher 1+2 just to know the whole story/experience.
Also great games in their own way even if dated.

And yea I aint buying new hardware just to run some new hype game, no game worths that much to me. 'I'm not paying more than 350$/Euro for a new GPU anyway'
There is still way too many games in my backlog that doesn't require more hardware than what I already have.

No need to descend into pathetic fanboyism. Game ran perfectly until it decided to memory leak and sit at a nice 40 FPS. Also, CPU performance doesn't explain the idiotic bugs and a character's dialogue sitting on my screen from the beginning until the end of the game. No other game I've played had this sort of issues, they all run flawlessly on a 1440p144 display. This game is a poor excuse of a game.

You may be okay with it because you got it for free, but for most other people who paid for it and are disappointed at not only the bugs and issues, but also at the features they promised to deliver not being in the game, I'm pretty sure they're not okay with that.

Fanboyism? You think a stock 9900k with cheap memory compares to a golden 9900k @ 5.2 ghz on all cores and 4000 cl15 memory? If I drop my cpu and memory oc, I loose like 15-20% fps in cpu bound situations (which im pretty much always, since i target ~150 fps at all times).

Not a fanboy at all. I am using a Ryzen 1700 in my server, and considers AMD in 2022-2023-2024 when I upgrade again. If they are still worth considering. Ryzen 5000 was a solid release. 1000/2000 was not, 3000 was decent. I want to see next gen from both AMD and Intel before I decide. Software gets time to recieve AMD optimization in the meantime, fine for me.

People had the oppotunity to refund, all I am saying is the game ran fine on my rig.
Makes sense, because CDPR tested and showcased the game EVERY TIME using Intel (Coffee Lake) + Nvidia (Turing/2080 Ti).

Fanboyism was referring to your smug remarks about AMD users. That goes both ways, by the way.

I mean I would say the ship blocking the Suez channel is a disaster yet I have nothing to do with it, nothing ordered that is on that boat or boats being blocked by it, no family involved, yet I would say its still a disaster.

You dont have to have a personal stake in it
i'd add that "you don't need to own/experience something personally to know it's bad/disaster", if you're informed enough

There were a number of memory-specific fixes listed as well as "Various other stability and performance improvements". Maybe they've fixed the memory leaking issue. I didn't experience any memory leaking so I can't say for sure, but given all the bug fixes and and stability improvements this patch allegedly provides (haven't tried it yet myself), it might be worth a try for you again. Just throwing it out there.

Does anyone care?

Sure I do.

So far I didnt even buy it. While I loved Witcher 1, I bought W2 long time after it was released. W3 about year after release. And really wasnt into pre-ordering CP2077 cause as project it was doomed from start. Seen same thing happen so many times in the past. But was quite positive, they will "finish" product in a year or two.

If they patch it enough..

I'll just wait for the "Complete Edition" of this game when everything is patched and all the DLC content is bundled into a nice, polished, package.

Well save me a bunch of money, not the 1st game to go side ways although seen way to many over the last 5 years though.

Will see, Steam already doing small sales on it already give until the enhanced version comes out and see what happens. Maybe if they had a story book to go from it would of been as good as the witcher.

Time will tell.

CP2077 is actually based on Mike pondsmith's books / board games. Just like the witcher series, the game itself covers a period the books do not and both the witcher series and CP2077 are unique forays into their respective universes.

Obviously not. Tons of Ryzen owners had and still has issues with this game, before and after "Ryzen patches". Much lower minimums.
And nah, you need a 5000 series Ryzen chip to get near me in single thread perf. 5.2 GHz and 4GHz CL15 mem.

That only applies to 6 cores and below. The issue is not present if you have an 8 core Ryzen CPU. Not sure if that issue is still around either, they might have fixed it. I have a 3700X and personally did not have the issue even at launch. It's not really an appropriate response to just blame the CPU when it is in fact unique to a single game.

Makes sense, because CDPR tested and showcased the game EVERY TIME using Intel (Coffee Lake) + Nvidia (Turing/2080 Ti).

Intel's performance gains from memory are very minimal as latency is low even with cheap RAM. You'd be looking at 4% extra performance best case with a top of the line kit fully tuned. The only exception would be a few outliers like skyrim that rely on faster RAM. Frequency increases above 4.8GHz on the 9000 series show extremely diminishing returns. Techpowerup shows a 1% improvement from 5.0 to 5.1 GHz and reviews show that from stock to 5.2 GHz performance gains are extremely negligible: https://www.kitguru.net/components/...9900k-review-mighty-processor-mighty-price/4/

In all likelihood, your CPU is at best 6% faster than a stock 9900K and 9% faster than the $160 10400F. Of course, that's the price you pay to squeeze out every last drop. You are acting as if the normal 9900K can't touch your 9900K but that couldn't be further from the truth.

"3000 was decent"

Decent as in had the lead it every metric from single thread performance to multi-thread to power consumption? Intel only retained the lead in gaming performance after the 3000 series launched. AMD has to win in every single metric for you to call is just "solid"? What exactly do you qualify Intel's new 11000 series as then? Great because it's Intel?

For almost 30 hours of play, I've finished the game (GOG version), and I've had almost no issues with it. just 2-3 small graphical glitches and that's all. Very stable and definitely one of my top favorite games. I suppose that RT will cause a great drop in frame rates, when ON, now for RDNA2, just as it did with my RTX 2080, I needed DLSS otherwise it was unplayable (ultra @ 2560x1080). And there is no DLSS for AMD :( But still, eager to see RT on AMD Cyberpunk too :)

Well, that's what I saw. Meaning visual artifacts or so. That is on RTX 2080 and then on 6800 XT. Saw same of the same missions with 1060 6 GB - there were visual artifacts everywhere. So it looks like it depends on the VRAM - could be optimization issues, no idea. And I played mostly the main quests, and like 10 hours of side-quests.

Graphics glitches are only part of it. Physics is on a GTA 3 level. Personally ai experienced too many glitches to try to list them all. Still played the game through though. Still overall I think the game needed a year or two more for polishing.

30/55GB for an incremental patch (1.1x --> 1.2) which adds no* features but bugfixes.
(https://semver.org/ I could add more links for those who have never versioned anything, but if you need them you're out of the versioning discussion)

This is a recompiled version of a half baked game oriented to the financial stakeholders.

Why are you still eating their poo?

If you look at transistor count and maybe die size, and i know it's Samsung vs TSMC, but, there is no deal in having a cheaper Amd card compared to Nvidia.
Thinking was Amd is the underdog and has to undercut Nvidia every time to sell anything but it's not the case anymore since Nvidia puts more transistors on the chip separately for ray tracing and DLSS.
So AMD went a bit better on rasterization and pretends ray tracing is not such a big deal and charges a bit lower than Nvidia but with much lower R&D costs and lower manufacturing costs.

I plan to wait at least another year before playing Cyberpunk 2077.
CDPR just has too much going on right now. Patching this game. Working on expansions for this game too. Working on an update for The Witcher 3 to bring it up to nextgen level and add raytracing and they are already working on a new game as well.
