XIGMATEK Intros the Aquarius S Wide Mid-Tower Case

XIGMATEK over the weekend introduced the Aquarius S, a compacted version of the Aquarius Plus. Both cases are still targeted at gaming desktops with room for DIY liquid cooling setups. What sets the new Aquarius S apart is its lesser depth, which means only two 140 mm / 120 mm fan mounts along the top- and bottom panels, instead of three on the Aquarius Plus.

Despite this, you get room for graphics cards up to 32 cm in length, CPU coolers up to 17 cm in height, and PSUs up to 20 cm in length. The PSU bay is oriented sideways in this vertically-partitioned case. Two clear tempered-glass panels cover the front- and left-sides. Storage options include two 3.5-inch trays that can each hold 2.5-inch drives, and three additional 2.5-inch mounts behind the motherboard tray. The Aquarius S measures 349 mm x 285 mm x 430 mm (DxWxH). The company didn't reveal pricing.

Huh This is my case atm but in SEA its known as the Tecware VXC. Really good airflow for the price. The only downside is that it doesn't come with any fans (the Tecware rebadge) and removing the front glass panel is kind of a pain. Hopefully xigmatek includes fans when they're the ones selling it

I feel like they're placing a lot of faith in those two bottom intake fans for solid airflow given that there isn't any side intake. Looks like they've taken it into consideration and made sure the feet are tall enough, but there's still likely less intake compared to a front or side intake. Would be interested to see how this compares thermally to the Aquarius Plus.

Actually, if you set it up as shown, with the 2 fans in the top sucking hot air out, it should be pretty efficient, as that would make the air flow path a mostly straight one, since hot air rises.

I've never seen the Plus version, but it should compare favorably.....

Too bad it doesn't have USB-C on the top I/O, if it did, I might consider buying it for my next build

Yeah, in theory the vertical airflow pattern should do well. You're just limited by how much air those bottom fans can pull in from the inch or so gap beneath the case and the surface it's sitting on. Compared to side/front intake with a whole open room to pull air from versus having to pull air from an inch gap between the desk and the case, I can speculate which one's going to suck in more air. Idk though, all just speculation. Anybody dense enough to put this on a shag carpet though is in for a PC turned EasyBake Oven.

I'd never heard of it either, but they linked the press release in the first sentence. Just an O11 Dynamic clone. Biggest noticeable difference between the two is the addition of side intake on the Plus.

Too bad it doesn't have USB-C on the top I/O, if it did, I might consider buying it for my next build

Only reason I like this sort of cases is the giant amount of space in the back for PSU cables. Sometimes routing crappy PSU cables (cough Corsair RMx) in some compact midtower cases is a pain.

Well, if it is a major concern, you could just make a pair of risers to go under each set of feet, using some good old school 2x4's, or bricks, or go for da bling bling and use some marble/ceramic/stainless steel rectangles for that matter, hehehehe

Actually quite a lot more "LianLi O11Dynamic" feel ^^. Just missing the "side fan placement" (right side of Mainboard) option but in general a very similar layout. But most of the "new" 2-chamber designs look like this. The Corsair actually went a nice and slightly different way and I like it a lot (but more the small version for ATX/ITX builds than the 540 - I think the design of the smaller ones is actually even nicer)
