Newegg, one of the leading tech-focused e-retailers in North America, today celebrates #DogeDay by announcing that the company now accepts Dogecoin as an official payment method on Newegg.com.

Newegg has been quick to embrace the shift to cryptocurrency. In 2014, the company was the first major e-retailer to accept Bitcoin for purchases made on the Newegg platform. Similarly, Newegg is among the first to enable customers to pay with Dogecoin while shopping online.

"The excitement and momentum around cryptocurrency are undeniable, and the recent surge in Dogecoin value underscores the need to make it easier for customers to make purchases with this popular cryptocurrency," said Andrew Choi, Sr. Brand Manager of Newegg. "We're committed to making it easy for our customers to shop however works best for them, and that means letting them complete transactions with the payment method that suits them best. To that end, we're happy to give Dogecoin fans an easy way to shop online for tech."

When completing an order on Newegg.com, customers who want to pay with Dogecoin simply click "Edit" in the payment section on the checkout page, then select BitPay. Customers can then complete their transactions using Dogecoin held in their digital wallet. Click here for full details about paying with BitPay on Newegg.com.

I don't know if I should feel sad or happy about this.
try indifference, disillusioned, denial - like the average computer hardware enthusiasts for the moment :)
nah, I find this funny aF.
one day, we're all gonna pay for healthcare, mortgage and morning coffee with dogecoins. /not serious
but if that does happen, it would give me slight satisfaction that the daily currency is called dogecoin, DOGE and not something like JKH or KLS or LPF...

Hi,
Not sure any government accepts it via state sells tax so looks like the egg will be doing some currency swapping to fulfill state... sells tax obligations

Well, why not.

People like that stupid coin. And in long term (means decade and so on) it has lower inflation than USD.

Basically shows how mental is current financial system of money printing. Here you have stupid cryptodog currency, that has infinite growth (means every year there will be more of it) and it still performs better than USD.

All things considered, I think problem is somewhere else than with DOGE.

I don't know if I should feel sad or happy about this.

Why would you feel sad , because it empowers mining ? I mean come on peoples need to stop acting as if gaming was some vital activity of something . DeFi is light years order of magnitude more important than the ability of the average teenager to game on Fortnite !

Why would availability of an additional payment option induce any feelings at all? You can already pay with a piece of paper which has no actual value beyond what the government tells you it has, or a bit of computer data representing this piece of paper but having even less intrinsic value by not being a physical object. In the world of fiat money I think a meme dog deserves as much trust as the government. Perhaps even more, there were no reports of dogs (meme-based or not) stealing public funds, in stark contrast to human governments.

Neat. Always happy to see more payment options that dont rely on big government or banking institutions. Especially the way things are going right now, I'd place my trust in dogecoin before USD or any other fiat currency, the miners seem to be more honest then the government when it comes to, well, pretty much anything.

How to buy the most expensive 3090 in the world:

Pay for it with Dogecoin and then watch as in 5 years that amount of Dogecoin is worth 150K.

Unless you still have that dogecoin in your possession after those 5 years that's faulty logic. At the time of transaction they were not worth that.

If USD hyperinflated over the next 5 years and $1500 became $5500, that doesnt mean I have a $5500 3090 in 5 years.

The point is this is a speculative investing instrument -- not a currency. That's the opposite of hyperinflation.... Your example is currency devaluating, not increasing in value, which would be the case here.

I don't dislike mining because gamers can no longer get their hands on their precious video gaming gadgets. I dislike it because it's entirely useless and does nothing other than damage the environment. It needs to die. All of it.

lol, newegg also was accepting bitcoin too and then after the 2018 crash they ceased to accept it, same thing will happen to any hyped coin, yeah they will accept the most hype coins like doge then after the crash they will not accept ahymore hehe, business 101 ehhe, this news is just another way to increase the hype for it, i guess whoever manages newegg bought bitcoin before spreading it and now bought doge before spreading the news.

Very soon this crypto market will crash 95% and then you will not see anybody talking about it anymore, just like 2011,2014 and 2018.

Isn't Newegg Chinese (Hangzhou) owned now? Any crypto payments probably leave the US in 0.001 ms to China.

Crypto market is t going to crash that hard because there are legit businesses and financial institutions investing in it as they see a future with it. Before this point of having some stability in the markets crypto could crash hard, but I doubt that it will do so now and in the futre unless their is some catastrophic financial disaster.
