Probably because you and I don't have the same idea when it comes to justice. What exactly are we suppose to do, complain to the government that a bunch of idiots are manipulating the market of certain non-essential goods to rip people off? Track down the scalpers and rob them blind or throw them in jail with hefty fines?

If you really want to get to the root of the problem with some semblance of justice, you also have to go after the sellers/resellers that are allowing the scalpers to buy such a large quantity.
But no one does. And it seems no one will though.

I agree, go after the resellers who allow this practice. At least Best Buy is trying.

TechPowerup offers it's own version of utility software.

Would it be possible for the site to offer a distributed mining app. for the purpose of putting the miners out of business.

There are more gamers then miners and the are more research number crunchers then miners.

How long wold it take for the gamer community to find enough of the unmined coin as to make it unprofitably for miners to operate?

(personally, I don't play games, but I do need an affordable cuda capable card for mathematica)

Sure if it was specifically called "GamerTechPowerUp, but its not. TechPowerUp encompasses a lot more than just gamer technology.

Expensive GPUs with 8gb Vram in 2021 is the ultimate BS, Nvidia is back again throttling their cards Vrams so that they get outdated 2 years later when system requirements increases forcing people to buy new cards regularly if they want to play at high resolutions, this BS is a scam in daylight.

I was really hoping the 3070ti would have more VRAM. NVIDIA are skimping this gen...maybe I'll skip it entirely.
Right ?

8gb vram is not going to be enough when games are exclusively being developed for current gen consoles, Nvidia is skimping so that you keep buying new cards.

Why do people INSIST on getting the absolute best when you can't afford one? Do you drive a Ferrari too, or do you simply buy a regular car to get from A to B?
I have both; one is for the weekend and the other is for going to / from work.

Do you know what though? There is little point to owning such an expensive car, as on the road, I'm bound by exactly the same driving rules as everyone else. It therefore comes down to, I just want it.

But no, prices have skyrocketed to astronomical levels now, making it not worth it even if I could afford it.
My exact thoughts. I had a few years ago made sure i always buy the $200 - $250 gpu. Now that i earn more money, the gpus that offer that same perf cost $400 WTF? lol......

As usual, a reminder: 5 years before the GTX 580 came out, Nvidia released the 8800 GT ultra for $860. Adjusted for inflation that is over $1100.
That was because they had no competition, they were going to do the same thing with the GTX 280 but AMD released HD 4870 and heavily undercut them.

I owned my RX 5700 XT on the same principle: I wanted one. Then I realised that it's just as pointless for 1080p gaming as a Ferrari is for going to work.

Though I have to admit, I probably wouldn't have sold it if not for the changed prices do to the silicon storage.

Upon reflection, It is probably a silly idea. If a distributed networks could profitably mine coin you would think some of the large corps. that run server farms would apply excess flops to the task.

Yeah I settle with my Mercedes S65 Coupé AMG all week, can't afford better, 740 HP post tuning is okay for me

Why are you following the driving rules tho? Can't afford a ticket, or too scared?

Makes no sense, lets see your ferrari them haha.

Also please explain why consumers should be going for the resolution you think is best.

I don't have a Ferrari, even if I could afford one, I would never buy one, especially not a red one, looks awful

Still makes no sense what you wrote, like you need an entusiast card like 3090 to play games at 4K. You are paying 100% more for 10% over 3080 and 3080 Ti is incoming which will make 3090 pointless.

Fps is more important than resolution for me anyway, could not care less about high res gaming at crappy framerates, I need 100 as bare minimum and pref 140+

The performance doesn't worth the price will wait for better performance.

Plus this card should be sold for 699$ max not 1200$ this is insane I hope new compition comes and drops Nvidia's prices and ego to the ground to be humble again.

Prices rose dramatically for no appearant reason the 1080 Ti sold for 699$ why should the 3080 Ti sell for 1200$ don't tell me it's worth it the 3090 is struggling in games to hit stable 60 fps in 4K the 3080 Ti is weaker so performance is weak why should I upgrade.
