repasting 6900XT Nitro+ reduced Hotspot temperatures by 35°C

my 6900XT Nitro Plus reached 116°C under full load Synthetic load (Aida64 GPU Stress Test)

in Games (WoW @ 5K Ultra ona certain Spot where my Camera sits inside a Portal (over 10°C higher temps than every other game i own)) my GPU was at 72°C and the Hotspot at around 112°C.

Now after repasting with Noctua NT H2 (i filmed the whole process including afterwards stress testing to proof that the GPU works)
the GPU sits at around 81°C at the Hotspot and 61°C Edge.

that's a 35°C lower Hotspot temperature compared to Stock.
the thermal Paste appilication from sapphire was fine.. but the paste itself is on a level between nivea body lotion and horse c...


sad that you have to repaste a 1250€ GPU.

i recorded it at 4K60 on my galaxy s21 ultra and the file is almost 4GB in size.

AFTER (22.1°C ambient)
hottest day since last summer today with 26°C outside instead of the average 19°C

Could it be a mounting pressure issue ?
the pre applied paste seems plentiful and covers everything, 35c from just repasting seems too good to be true.

have you applied more mounting pressure when you put it back together?

i used more or less the same mounting pressure ( i checked the screws and they were like a quarter before "hand tight" screwed in)
i did the exact same. screwing them at the same amount of force and then a tiny bit "backwards".

i currently play rainbow six siege at 1440p Ultra.
