Razer proving once again it hasn't got a clue about assembling a good gaming system.
Pairing the biggest numbers together and assuming it's better, as do the noobs that buy them.

The poll here confirms what I said after the previous article: the 3050 series is a much more anticipated product line than these.

He's not though. I have a low profile system with a 560x 4GB card, and that 4GB is insufficient at 1080p for cities skylines and DOOM at what should be playable settings. The 1650 is significantly faster, and the 3050 faster then that, 4GB will hamstring it.

Apparently you are so smart and obsurvent that you somehow didnt notice most AAA games throughout 2019 to 2021 consumes more than 4gb of vram, and up to 8Gb when maxed out at 1080p too ( Doom Eternal), so yeah am right on the nails of what i said, ( Re village in game tells you it could consume up to 12Gb Vram) when you max out everything ).

Nvidia is throttling their Vram to keep you buying new cards when in 2 years Vram requirements increases, 4gb Vram is soooo 2016 with 1050ti, that was last gen, with PS5 and Series X 4k consouls, and series S 1440p console a budget card today should atleast play those games at 1080p.

Two examples out of many, what do you think will happen now new powerful consoles are out there ?
Devs will increase Vram requirements !

Nvidia have not upgrades xx50Ti cards from 4Gb since 2016, wtf man shit's so scummy, even the cheapest Current gen console, Series S will have more Vram than the RTX 3050Ti, so ridiculous

Remember when the age of PS3 and Xbox 360 ended, Nvidia release the 750Ti with x8 the Vram of those consoles, you could max out almost every game from that era and still wount eat 2Gb of video memory, perfect budget card for its time, Now with RTX 3050Ti a 2021 card have less Vram than a PS4 and Xbox one from 2013, ridiculous

On the other hand, I also have a low profile system with a 1650 in it, and don't feel hindered by the 4 GB VRAM in any way. Maybe nvidia and AMD's VRAM handling works differently.

Modern games are also quite clever when it comes to VRAM usage. They basically allocate (not use) as much as the game engine might need at some point. The more you have, the more it will allocate. It doesn't mean that all allocated VRAM is filled up and used, though.

Example: In the TechPowerUP! performance review of Cyberpunk 2077, VRAM usage with an RTX 3090 was shown to be ~5600 MB at 1080p. However, with similar settings, VRAM usage varies between 3000-3500 MB on my 4 GB 1650. The game uses what you have, not what it needs.

I'm not saying a 6 GB 3050 series wouldn't be nice, though.

Isn’t there reason to believe that one or two companies might have a custom board with more VRAM then is typical?

It depends on chip layout. DDR6 has 1 and 2GB modules, so if the cards use 4 modules there is nothing stopping a ODM from putting 8GB on the card. That being siad such cards are rare now, they were more common in the fermi/kepler days.
On the other hand, I also have a low profile system with a 1650 in it, and don't feel hindered by the 4 GB VRAM in any way. Maybe nvidia and AMD's VRAM handling works differently.

Cities skylines is really easy to test, just set it to high settings at 1080p. Once the VRAM fills up the game begins to stutter and drop frames, telltale signs of VRAM limitations. The system in question only has a 3.0x4 connector, which will magnify any VRAM limitations, but this was also an issue when tested in my big desktop with a x16 connection.

And honestly, with GPU prices on the rise why should we accept having the same framebuffer that we had on a card from 5 years ago? Three generations we've been stuck with the same VRAM allotment despite GPUs becoming noticeably faster, and the next generation of games will only demand more memory, even at lower settings.

So Nvidia gimps it with 4GB and yet AMD's entry level Navi 23 6600 will still come with 6GB. There is no excuse in the world now for crappy 4GB RAM size. It bad enough the 3070 Ti is still a lame 8GB, just buy the regular 3080 at least. 3070 Ti should have been 320 bit bus and 10GB and replaced the 3080 at say $50 less and 3080 Ti should be $899 and replace the 3080.
