Love the comments here writing the tech off after one image. I remember the same people bashing AMD now saying "wait!! Nvidia will make DLSS better.".

First, let's get a larger sample size.

Second, afford AMD the same Nvidia was afforded. Don't be a hypocrite.

I'm gonna wait with comments on that except one. Good that the FSR is finally announced and we I hope AMD and especially devs will make use out of it.
It's no surprise it will take some time before the quality of implementations increase and the image quality will be better.
BTW. Judging a feature by a 2-3 frame screenshots from one game :) Classic :) Maybe the image is blurry due to NV 1060?

Yeah let hope FSR exist in some other game beside the shitty Godfall  ,if AC Valhalla support FSR then it makes sense but Godfall, who the heck play this game?

I'll be surprised if Vallhalla doesn't support it since that team worked closely with AMD. Would be nice if FSR could give me 165 fps maxed out at 165 hz 1080p on quality mode... I could forgive some blurriness for that smoothness, but the key word is some... it depends what it looks in real time...

It's clear - looking at the images available, that the one with the 1060 split-screen is full of motion blur at the edges - it's plainly obvious. Look at the columns in the distance for an example of the image quality due to performance optimisations.

In the second image, the one with 5 segments, I'd say there is no image degradation between segments. This probably indicates that this slide is not a real comparison of quality, and only there for FPS reference.

Love the comments here writing the tech off after one image. I remember the same people bashing AMD now saying "wait!! Nvidia will make DLSS better.".
I think most of us knew what would happen; people were just waiting to bash it as inferior to DLSS.

afford AMD the same Nvidia was afforded.
For my money that means rip it to shreds, Nvidia is the company so many tech-heads love to hate, no matter what they do there's always multiple people with a heavily negative spin on it. Not to say AMD is immune to this either, but there is generally far more of a positive spin for the underdog.

But yes, you are right, it is far too early to draw any sweeping conclusions.

I am very excited and want to make up my own mind by trying it, especially if it comes to existing DLSS 2.0 titles so I can really compare against Native and the premier upscaling tech on the market.

This announcement from AMD further validates Nvidia's DLSS technology efforts. It shows us that's where the industry is headed in the near future.

I think the deciding factor is : FSR works on consoles, DLSS does not.

Console has been using checkerboarding for a long time, no need for FSR either....

Now if only some of you were half as passionate about demanding better hardware and lower priceses that dont need mitigating software as you are about....image upscaling....

Also these screenshots are garbage to compare, as was already stated, you can see motionblur bluring the image on both sides so this says nothing bout FSR's working.
Even if it is not great YET though, DLSS 1.0 was a dumpsterfire as well and now some of you are defending that like its a religion....

Console has been using checkerboarding for a long time, no need for FSR either....

Logical statement, you know exactly what FSR is and how it works and what it produces so you can already with confidence state it will be inferior to checkerboarding right?

This announcement from AMD further validates Nvidia's DLSS technology efforts. It shows us that's where the industry is headed in the near future.

Which is...mediocre performance increases that will be sorta made up for with software upscaling tech?
Or are you just talking about higher framerate because that has been a thing the industry has been pursuing since....well the start really.

Who is defending DLSS 1.0? even the ones with the strongest green tint in their glasses know 1.0 was a let down, and readily admit it.

Times have changed luckely on the AMD vs Intel discussion but that was the same thing not 2 years ago: got a problem? oh you have an AMD cpu? well there is your problem!

Not sure why people are picking on the GoodFall. I like the game and it looks stunning. It has its merits though and it looks great. The screenshot presented is very weird.
I would still wait for any comments regarding the FSR but I guess for some people this is not an option.

Im putting forth DLSS 1.0 as that was the initial implementation of the software, again everyone called that a dumpsterfire.
Now DLSS 2.0 is out and people are defending it like its a religion when its just a newer version of that initial poorly working concept.

This is AMD's first launch of FSR, maybe it has to go through a similair process if it ends up not being great out of the gate.

Title is wrong, it should say Details, not Announces, as FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) was already known about, but the details weren't.
I posted about it myself a while back.

I appreciate the clarification, I see what you mean and agree that I'll personally want to make up my own mind, see it with my one eyes, and afford it time to mature. Even IF there is a quality reduction, if they get the balance of performance re-gained right (ie, better results than simply rendering at lower res+sharpen) it could still be an absolute monster of a feature.
Now DLSS 2.0 is out and people are defending it like its a religion when its just a newer version of that initial poorly working concept.
I can agree with that sentiment to an extent tho, because (for lack of a better term) haters, still have that taste of terrible 1.0 in their mouth, and a vast number of them probably don't even own an RTX card and use/see 2.0 with their own eyes, lump it in the same bucket and crap on it. Turns out it's actually pretty good, and well worth enabling in 2.0 form.

I'd liken it to a new car coming out, lets say the 2019 'sports car' launched and was super duper underwhelming, didn't live up to the way the company marketed it at all. Back to the drawing board, now the 2021 'sports car' from the same company is out and is MUCH better, people that bought the new one will tell you how awesome it is, and freely admit the 2019 model was crap, but some will just associate that name with the poor one that launched first.
Nvidia on the other hand has a legion of fanboys who will, unpaid, convince the world that any slight problem someone has with a game or there PC is the lack of Nvidia in it and will push....recommend buying Nvidia over anything else.
I hear what you're saying, and I absolutely cannot deny it as I've seen it, and I can only speak for what I see with my own eyes, but my experience of forums/the internet and AMD vs Nvidia, I see your quoted example a heck of a lot less than (and I'm paraphrasing and exaggerating here..), Nvidia are greedy/shady/evil/bad for gamers and I'll NEVER support them, and AMD can do no wrong/is our savour/gets a pass. AMD knows this and try reasonably hard to play into that strong hand as much as they can, where again 'unpaid' fans are doing a lot of their marketing work for them, and credit to them, they'd be foolish not to.

Perhaps we both see different things, perhaps our own biases come into play too, and I am not trying to start a war with you, just agree that people at the extremes of both sides of the coin are just as bad and problematic and toxic as eachother.

Really cool if they somehow manage to make it good eventually without special hardware // what's the point of it if it's gonna be so blurry even on Quality preset - most big games thankfully already have a render scale slider in place if you're comfortable trading clarity for fps.

I suppose a part of this is that these are the images AMD has chosen to introduce FSR with.

Why is everyone saying that DLSS is dead? FSR requires per game integration so if random developer didn't bother to implement it we choose between DLSS, FSR, UE5 TSR, MS Direct ML. Necromunda: Hired Gun has DLSS but I think Nvidia never promoted it.

Comparison at 1:24 looks much better IMO than the running on a 1060 screenshot everyone likes to compare.

I went into this on the previous page, but the issue with DLSS is it only supports one vendor on one platform and the technical debt it creates for developers, versus implementing something that you can implement once regardless of platform. UE TSR has the issue of one engine (but I'm sure plenty of devs will implement this as part of their UE game). MS Direct ML misses the most popular console option. Only FSR is completely agnostic to platform or engine at this point.

Maybe the blur is just for Nvidia gpus or that 1060 in particular.

I really doubt AMD will release it, if it was utter shit.

We need more info!
