Don't worry, they're all limited edition.
Founders editions are not, per nvidia statements for past cards. So it's certainly worth asking. It's not a given.

It's still a over 70% MSRP increase over the predecessor 3080 from only 6 months ago. Or nearly half the perf/$.

That's disasterous no matter how you cut it.

The effective price increase for their 6 core tier CPU was 50% (199.99 to 299.99) for 20-40% more performance. Actual real world pricing was damn near 100%, going from ~$169 for a 3600 to $300 for a 5600x, not including scalp pricing.

"but muh 3600x" The 3600, 3600 x(treme fanboi edition), and 3600 x(treme fanboi) t(urbo edition) were all the same chip and within 2-3% of eachother in gaming benchmarks and productivity because zen 2 had almost no headroom for OCing.
If you are talking about the first part of my comment I was referring to CPUs, both Intel & AMD have drastically improved perf/$ since 2016.

If you are talking about the first part of my comment I was referring to CPUs, both Intel & AMD have drastically improved perf/$ since 2016.
If you are talking about MY comment, I pointed out how AMD has ruined performance/$ with ryzen 5000, taking a serious step back in the lower end of the market with a nearly 100% price increase for 20-40% more performance.

It's still better than what you had (per/$) in 2017, 2018 & 2019 ~ it's only 2020 & arguably Covid that blew the demand out of all expectations.
See this, right here? This is wrong. The 5600x represents a significant degregation in performance per $ since 2019, arguably since 2018 with the ryzen 2600. Hell in 2018 you could get a 8 core 200 for under $200. Now you get a 6 core for $300. That's a step backwards. The 5600x isnt 90% faster then a 3600 yet effectively costs 90% more then the 3600x did pre covid.

And that 5600x price is not a coronavirus special. AMD set a MSRP that was 50% higher then a 3600 for 20-40% more performance. Real world prices for the 3600 were lower then MSRP, making the math significantly worse. At $169 that is a 77% increase in MSRP for at most 40% more performance, typically around 20% in consumer applications. At $159 that becomes a 88% difference. That is an attrocious value.

Just done a quick calculation to show how much an apple like "luxury product" dGPUs have become in the last 9 years:

Median household income in the United States (in 2019 U.S. dollars) $54.569 (2012) - $68.703 (2019) = +26% increase...
EU households saw even lower income increase of +15%.

While nVidia's top tier GeForce GPU MSRP pricing went up whooping +100% (from $499 (GTX 680 )to $999 (2080TI) and now even 200 bucks / +140% more with 3080TI)
There's a HUGE gap between household income growth and NGreedia's pricing policy, closely followed by AMD. That's just insane and some ppl still try to rationalize & justify these price hikes. There is no excuse, nVidia is milking sh$t out of dGPU buyers by exploiting their market maker position. That's why their gross profit margin went up from 29 to whooping 63% in the last decade.

Are we just stopping at core counts, did you miss the massive IPC increase? This is why I stopped at 2019, zen3 was undoubtedly worse perf/$ than zen2 but still much better than the prices zen debuted at.

3070 Ti is not going to be much faster than 3070 at 1440p thats for sure. All they did is add 256 more cores and raise power limit (by 50 watts) + clockspeed up by 50-75 MHz

I expect a 5% difference between a custom 3070 and a custom 3070 Ti with max OC on both. For 100 dollars more, and 9-12 months of waiting? Seems like bad value, espeially when prices are going to be doubled or even tripled compared to MSRP today, back when 3070 came out, it actually sold for MSRP or close

None of them will be good for 4K gaming long term so the extra bandwidth is kinda useless on the 3070 Ti, pretty much all 3070 does 512GB/s minimum (+1000) and some even +1100-1200 but it does not result in much performance compared to stock at 1440p, because bandwidth is not the bottleneck

Again I'm not expert and I know "msrp" and the amount in USD for us may not does not HAVE to be the same for other places.

Like I get that its nice when we all pay the same but it's just not how the world works in some cases.

You guys get steam games for pennies on the dollar compared to us in a lot cases but again their an economic reason for this and it's something the can accommodate.

I assume the pricing you of physical goods works differently than digital and they just can't make what you want work with whatever tarrif / tax / etc that may be involved with selling the physical good in your country.

Sorry but this is normal for enthusiast markets were always paying extremely high costs beyond what many would consider "reasonable" usually for very little gain (but it's still a gain and it still puts us on top so we go for it)

That's what being part of the enthusiast market is about.

You absolutely don't need to be a part of it if you don't find that kind of thing of interest.

But many do it's why Lambos and Ferraris exist.

And that my friend is unfortunately likley your own people taking advantage of each other.

Not a lot the rest of the world can do when it's your own businesses marking you up.
Apart from retailers taking advantage it is also nVidia who has priced their new offerings(FE) beyond what generally is reasonable hike due to taxes.

Seeing how they never reappeared at Polish NV store they might as well be. Right now I think they only update US stock at BB, UK stock at Scan and some store in Germany.

Nvidia specifically said they werent going to sell direct anymore due to bots. They are leaving it up to their choice of a retailer to do that for their FE cards. BB has a pretty good system to mitigate bots.

1. Looking at median household income in the US is probably irrelevant to this discussion. The people who might actually buy a card like this don't exactly fall at or below the median anyways. They probably fall quite a bit higher with a good amount of disposable income.

2. Then don't buy them?

I have not seen a single post in this thread rationalizing these prices.

Its been 3 pages of people complaining about it.

The vast majority of people buying these kinds of cards Ti, Titan, 3090, 6900xt, etc pricing does not matter to them so it always amazes me when people who were never going to get the card in these forums bitch about it trying to make it out like these cards are even remotely intending to strike some kind of price/perf deal. And maybe take a step back and think about the possibility that Nvidia may have priced this card in such a way that might be less appealing for scalpers. Align better with limitted supply, etc. etc.

Normal??? Far from it. Some recent high end dGPU history (price/performance value):

2013: 780TI vs GTX 680 = +66% performance increase & 200$ MSRP price increase
2015: 980TI vs 780TI = +28% performance increase & 50$ price REDUCTION
2017: 1080TI vs 980TI = +67% performance increase & 50$ price increase
2019: 2080TI vs 1080TI = +26% performance increase & 300$ price increase!!!
2021: 3080TI vs 2080TI = +40% performance increase & 200$ price increase

NGreedia went from charging $500 to $1200 bucks for top tier gaming GPU in just 9 years...240% price increase in time frame when cumulative USD inflation was 16,3%. Why the hell are people still defending NGreedia's and AMD's MSRP price hikes???

On that last point you made, Founders Edition for Founders Edition on 2080Ti and 3080Ti is the same price. 2080Ti FE was $1200, and the "$1000" 2080Ti actually had a different core than the 2080 Ti FE and other cards based around its' core.

Im actually okay with this price since it sounds like, just from this thread, itll deter more people from buying. So maybe ill actually get a card and put this old ass 1070 to rest.

I think for many the Ti will still look like a pretty solid value compared to what they might have to pay for a 3080 of they go elsewhere.
Ain’t lookin like a solid value to me…

but then again I’m a little bitter because my hd4850 just started artifacting again and I’ve got to fire the oven back up.

This makes a 3090 FE purchase look like a steal. Guess Nvidia is cutting scalpers out by inflating their MSRP for no perceivable performance gains. At least you might be lucky enough to get one of these cards into a shopping cart before it's sold out.

Honestly was kind of hoping they might do this. 3080 and 3070 was priced pretty well imo, less than i thought they would be (3080 mainly) and that showed pretty fast as soon as they hit the market. People bought up the very little supply there was pretty damn fast.

2080 MSRP was $799. 3080 was cheaper at launch ($699), and performed about 30% better. The "cheaper" part didn't exactly last long though after companies like Asus hiked prices due to "alleged" components shortage.

3080 Ti is biggest rip-off I've seen in years. Huang is laughing his @ss off at the moment, and AIB cards will hit $1599 for sure for some models. Oh well I hope it all blows up in their face, not that anyone will buy these. Even the 3070 Ti is a rip, just buy a stock 3080.

Not a word about availability or how to combat the stupid pricing, as now scalpers' prices are the same as normal prices at legitimate retailers.

Remember when the top end Ti models used to cost 700$ ?

Good times, now with raytracing, nvidia has an excuse to charge us higher, just when high resloution high refresh rate gaming started to become affordable, this shit happens, yeah this gen of consoles are going to be VERY popular.

2080 at 800 was very overpriced
3080 at 700 was overpriced (not very but still xD)

Yes, big pockets will buy them at whatever price BUT, there were people that before could afford them (when gpus weren't as overpriced as per touring gen) that now can't, those are the complainers.
I also complain, because $200 - $250 bracket has been left in the fucking dust :( .

The hell do you consider a fair price for a high end card (3080)????

Do not say $500. Its not 2005 anymore.

Come on dude....

There will definitely be people buying these cards. I already know several who plan to camp out at a Microcenter or stalk the hell out of BB.com on launch day.

Not a word about availability or how to combat the stupid pricing, as now scalpers' prices are the same as normal prices at legitimate retailers.
There is absolutely zero scalping via legit retailers. Show me one, that isn't being sold through a retailer by a third party.

I'd say $600. Think of something.......in the past, the absolute best was $500 as you said. Now the absolute best is $1500. That BS about titan cards not being for gaming is for ignorants. They just fucking invented that bracket out of thin air and people just swallowed it all. But hey.......It's their money i guess :D

Watch out, he is gonna come back at that argument with "INFLATION!!!!", even thought there was like 15% inflation in the last 10 years and not 100%.

There is absolutely zero scalping via legit retailers. Show me one, that isn't being sold through a retailer by a third party.
Of course their prices are the same as scalpers, they sell the cards for around 3 times more than before.

In 2007 the 8800 Ultra MSRP was $600.

I mean Titan cards did do a bit better in Compute than normal Geforce cards which was appealing to those who did CAD work or other compute workflows without spending double or triple that for a quadro or tesla card.

But i think more gamers ended up buying them anyways.

Moral of the story, you want the absolute best, better pony up i guess.
