Alphacool introduces the Tec Protect 2 Clear coolant, another high-end solution in the Alphacool Coolant range. With the successor of the already proven Tec Protect coolant, you get a ready-to-use mixture that can be used as is and contains all the necessary additives for your liquid cooling loop.

Alphacool's Tec Protect 2 Clear coolant consists mainly of osmosis water, which is free of all contaminants due to multiple filtration. This makes contamination of the water loop from such minerals as lime, bacteria, fungi and algae almost impossible. Coolers, radiators, pumps and hoses remain free of deposits and can perform their work reliably thanks to Alphacool's Tec Protect 2 Clear coolant.

Technical Data
Boiling point: 105° C
Freezing point: -10°C
Colour: Clear (not UV-active)

Great! Now we need a review!

I wonder how frequently it has to be replaced? Annually, at 5 years, etc.?

This looks interesting. I'm running distilled water, some EK biocide/corrosion inhibitor (I forget what it's called) and I have a silver coil plug sitting in a T-piece. I wasn't really sure what I was doing with all these pre-mixed coolants but if this stuff can avoid me having to do an annual drain/clean/fill I'll give it a shot because Osmosis sounds fancy.

Lol yes, their website is stuck in the '00s and navigating it is bad even by '00s standards.

Not that I tolerate bad websites (heck, I can barely stand TPU :p) but I'm willing to let it go if their products are decent.

What would you rather do.... we increase the prices for the products significantly, then we can also employ a whole team that only takes care of the website so that it looks nicer. Of course, we can also raise the prices again so that we burn the money in marketing. Some others like to do that. Or we leave it at the lower prices. Your choice ;-)

Hah, it's fine, once you're in the market for a custom loop you know what you want and don't need to browse/navigate a website like you would a retailer. Though I do wonder how much more direct revenue you'd get if it was improved; Possibly not enough to justify an overhaul.

I ended up asking the questions in the support forums and then buying from a local retailer.

Our goal is not necessarily to sell the goods through our own shop, we leave that to our distributors and resellers. That's what they are there for.

But yes, we are working in the background to structure the shop better. But that's just on the side. A new website will also come at some point, but we are currently prioritising new products, new design language and a few other things that will become visible to customers next year.

In summary, we have been restructuring ourselves massively in various areas for 2 years. But when you turn the whole company upside down, you need time and you have to set priorities. Support and new products are more important to us than the website for the time being. Step by step ;-)

Hey Eddy,

That very logic cuts both ways. ;) Instead of employing a whole new team, you could just as easily improve the qualification of the existing employees and thus raise their working efficiency. For example, you can teach web development to a bunch of dudes and they gradually improve your website on company time, instead of procrastinating. :D

Other than that I'm happy with your products.

Votre choix ;-)
your shipping costs are so high that I give up half the time.
UPS here no thanks
You have to check with your operator.
Germany > France 1l Tec protec 2 /13€ shipping costs 12€.
GLS 16€ lol
At this price I send a washing machine
It is the price of a Chronopost 24 H

You can order more or less everything also over Docmicro in france. For the newest products you have to wait a few weeks until they list our stuff. The delivery costs do not come from us but from the respective delivery services. The alternative would be to subsidise the delivery costs. Some do that, so the costs look cheaper. But the corresponding costs are then added to the product prices or otherwise passed on to the customer. But since our focus is not on selling through our shop but through our resellers, a subsidy does not make sense for us. We are not a shop but a manufacturer.

If you're that worried about the CPU being welded to the block, just let the CPU heat up to 80C or so without the loop running and then yank the power cord and try to take it off when it's still hot.

Thermal goop is usually softer when heated, YMMV depending on what type of goop you've used though....

Yeah well the block is just too good at cooling it back down…I’m actually thinking trying a “string trick” like removing a stuck ring.. slide a piece of floss under the block. It’s MX4 but still…

if the pump is running, sure, but you need to unplug the pump to get 80C on the CPU anyway. Just don't boil your coolant, that would be rather bad.
