MSI partnered with Toho Co., trademark owners of Godzilla, to develop limited edition variants of the GeForce RTX 3070 LHR SUPRIM SE graphics card. The card swaps out silver for Godzilla's distinctive metallic cherry red color, and features a large Godzilla die-cast print along the backplate. The Godzilla logo (in Japanese) dominates both the backplate, as well as an embossed version sits on the central fan. The card uses the lite hashrate (LHR) variant of the RTX 3070 GPU, paired with MSI's top-of-the-line SUPRIM cooling solution. The MSI RTX 3070 SUPRIM x Godzilla will launch exclusively in the Japanese market, it could be resold as a collector's item.

Looks cool. I always appreciate a different and unique design approach in PC hardware. We have too many B&W color scheme right now :( Seems like we're getting colors back.

Why would MSI bother limited editioning a $500 MSRP, 220W TTDP, GDDR6 memory, xx70, instead of the top stack xx90 with 350W TDP and a hot GDDR6X on both sides in dire need of all the cooling it can get? In fact, all the 3070s are selling for batshit insane near-1000 euros in all my local shops already, as far as I'm concerned they're limited enough as is. AIBs are weird these days.

Luckily MSI knows more about channel marketing and forecast than a random forum user.

Simple as the 3070 being the best selling model and not many 90 dies going about. If you are partnering with a company, I'd assume the idea would be to sell in high volume. You think 3070 price is batshit crazy? Have you seen the 3090 pricing!?
What I don't get however is they are labelling this as a "suprim X" when it has nearly 200Mhz less boost clock as standard compared to the original suprim x when 3000 series was launched. This is more akin to the suprim SE model.

EDIT: Okay so Techpowerup have this slightly wrong. It's actually an SE model except this is the "Suprim SE x"

You assume wrong, as any co-brands like this are always about low volume limited editions and scalped prices to match the "limited" factor. Case in point, Asus with their Gundam edition:
MSI just wants to make money on selling "limited" cards right after prices on GPU's started to go down.

There is even less Godzilla or Kong to find than in Wargamings World of Warship event which totally screwed the customers.
