LattePanda Alpha Announced - A Palm-Sized and Low-Power Windows 10 SBC

I think I'd rather get a Raspberry Pi 4 that's fully loaded with memory and eMMC to be honest. The price premium for that single core performance and two small M.2 slots is probably not worth it. I feel like a good ARM SoC should be able to do the same for less.
 
That's actually a really cute little beast of a machine, i can see it being used as a Rpi alternative

Should work no problem. SoC has built-in TPM2.0.
AMD has no equivalent as of now.
There is a shitton of AMD eqivalents. Udoo Bolt is the most successful one. The only problem all of them have in common is price. Even a base Bolt v3 with dual-core SoC costs about as much as Ryzen 3 laptop or pimped-up deskmini. BTW, Udoo also has similar Intel-based offerings, but with these prices it's actually cheaper to buy a premade networking appliance (based on 8th gen Core U) from China, solder an Arduino to it, spent the change on a giant keg of beer and an oversized straw, pat yourself on the back for being an "inventive hardware hacker" and get drunk.
 
Wait, what? The Lattepanda Alpha came out, two years ago? It looks like the CPU has been upgraded but you have been able to buy these for two years+ or something like that.
I worked with the original Lattepanda on some IOT devices for industrial applications (I didn't make that decision...), and they were god awful slow. No we werent trying to do more with it than the specs demanded, even with a crazy amount of optimizations still made it unbearably slow, it was just pure torture in the end to work on it. Luckily management finally understood the frustrations and bough a proper SoC board from a reputable manufacturer.
The lattepanda looked good on paper, but I have no good experience with it, and the alpha is just too damn expensive, there are comparable products around that is both better, faster and cheaper.

I was under the impression that most AMD stuff is in the >=15W range, but I'm probably wrong.

Just like Intel, it's all configurable. Most 1st gen V-series can be configured to run with 12-25W TDP cap. R-series can be as low as 6W for some models, some can be as high as 35W.
Newer V2000-series has some beefy monsters with 8C/16T and TDP up to 54W.
