Benchmark Scores does it really matter?
i aquired a pentium 4 socket 478 system. it has an amptron MB with no model NM labeled.
when ever i insert the processor the powersupply lets out a quiet high pitched whaling noise but it goes away when there is no processor.iv tried two psu's and 2 processors and swapped out every ram card i have. (this Board supports 168 & 184 pin) any ideas to fix this?

Is there only this high pitching noise or is the board not booting at all?

If its only the high pitching noise then probably a capacitor isnt solderd solid to the board.

You are sure that you plugged in both plugs into the mainboard?
20 pin and 4 pin? Otherwise its normal that this beeps comes. Experienced it myself sometimes.

if the board doesn't have one, then it isn't needed therefore, you shouldn't need to worry about not having one

Let's figure out what mobo you have, use the FCC number. Check the mobo for a printed number like this; FCC xxxxxxxxx , and put in the search function @ www.fcc.gov.
