The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX was announced in early 2021 and while it has seen strong adoption in the laptop market we are yet to see any Mini-PCs equipped with the processor. This looks set to change as Hong Kong company Morefine have recently announced the S500+ Mini PC featuring the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 9 5900HX. The Morefine S500+ can be equipped with up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-4266 memory along with a 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD in addition to a 2.5" drive bay. The computer includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity along with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and 2.5 GbE Ethernet. Morefine isn't the only company planning a Ryzen 9 5900HX Mini-PC with Minisforum confirming to VideoCardz that they also have a product under development. The two companies haven't officially confirmed pricing or availability for these upcoming products.

Could be me or just because it's an engineering sample, but right now the layout doesn't match what's shown on the design slides. But I'm curious about how it'll perform as an office-pc as well as a small media-center in the living room :). Might be really interesting and tempting actually.

Looks great, now what about the actual pricing ~ street price, not "introductory" prices!

:banghead: ... that makes total sense. I read that another company is working on it but to be honest the way the pictures were arranged and not titled (or I'm blind) I thought this is the one system they are talking about in the post, not the one topic and a sneek-peak of the other product :D.

Luminium-magnesium alloy made me spray my morning coffee all over my precious monitor....

But yeah, the device looks promising, and given their success with previous models - it'll be a worthy mini-workstation.

I am more laughing how the PCB totally doesn't match the case IO design.

Stupid artists - again :D

The PCB is for the Minisforum Mini-PC, while the case is for Morefine's offering.

Starting from $500 but i highly doubt that is with 5900HX onboard. Rather this might be 5300/5500U or 5700U best case. Im basing this on the fact the in the EU similar miniPC barebones with integrated mobile CPU (4700U) start from 460€ and go up from there. Plus one needs to add their own RAM and storage that increases the price further.

So while its great that we will have 5900HX option then realisticly i expect them to cost close to or over a 1000 with RAM and storage factured in. Similar to high end NUC's.

Really looking forward to the “ultra-light, wear-resistant surface”

wonder if that’s just consumer grade plastic or something even more exotic… :p

Thermals - not likely, but aggressive power management profiles - definitely. Too little space to boost that 45+W SoC for prolonged periods of time. Probably gonna be limited to 35W or something like that (which is still more than enough to keep an adequate level of performance).
For comparison AsRock Deskmini can only manage full 65W desktop chips due to fully perforated top and air vents all around the perimeter. Morefine has intake at the bottom, and Minisforum has even tighter slit between top lid and mid-chassis, which means helluvaconstricted airflow. Older models w/ 3750H did pretty good at 35W TDP cap (~75-77C at full load in a controlled environment, at least according to reviews). Dunno if UEFI firmware is going to be fully unlocked, but 54W TDP w/ a cryochamber would definitely do the trick (or flipping it upside down) :D :D :D
