Wise Data Recovery is also popular. But it should be noted these programs typically use the same tricks. So if you are thinking you can use a different program because Recuva fails, you most likely will be out of luck with the different program too.

This is even more true if the drive is used after the file was deleted with the possibility of success rapidly decreasing the more the drive is used.

I had good use with easeus, myself.

I had to recover a failed backup because Windows decided to take a crap by forcing an unscheduled update...the recovery on the backup wouldn't have been needed, but the forced Windows 10 update literally broke Windows and the main disk was unbootable. I didn't have any other drives at the time where I could try to pull and store all the data so I had to resort to recovering data on the backup drive. I was able to recover everything, thankfully. Now I've got 2 full backups to hopefully prevent this from happening again in the future.

+1 here for EASEUS. Though I've used at most version 12 and hard drives only, don't know but seems ver 13-14 is buggy, but maybe there were no recoverable stuff on ssd i've tried with it...

I've also used Easus data recovery and it does work. $50 well spent because I also use it to recover customer data to pay for itself.

SpinRite is really good. It even works on defective drives. It's a little pricey at $89, but more than worth it when you really need it.

Well, after tried all above, the best results were in linux with photorec+testdisk, the 'device' was an 120GB Kingston ssd with 10% health...managed to get few jpg back...

Yes, Puran make a great utility for recovering deleted files even from a formatted partition, or even a deleted partition.

There's also Roadkil's Undelete which is handy as well.

Word of caution, unless you go with the pro version the limitations will get in the way.
