Wireless gaming headsets only keep gaining popularity and it's not hard to understand why once you've owned a pair, as losing the cable is really quite convenient. Logitech's latest entry into the wireless headset market is the G435, which is also their cheapest wireless model to date.

However, we're also looking at a lightweight headset here, at only 165 grams (5.8 oz) and Logitech is making a big deal about its sustainability too, with it being certified CarbonNeutral. What this means is that Logitech has carbon offset the production of the G435, which seems like a cheap shot at getting green creds, but Logitech does at least use a minimum of 22 percent of "post-consumer" recycled plastic by weight and FSC-certified paper sources for the packaging. How much any of this will matter when people are making their purchasing decisions is a different matter.

Looking at the more technical aspects of the G435, Logitech has gone for its proprietary Lightspeed 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity, plus the addition of Bluetooth, although there's no mention of which version of Bluetooth that is supported. The wireless range is claimed to be 10 meters (33 ft) and the battery is said to offer up to 18h of wireless usage. Charging is done via a USB-C connector, although it's not clear if this can also be used for audio in a wired mode. There doesn't appear to be any 3.5 mm jack.

The G435 features 40 mm drivers with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which is pretty much par for the course. The ear pads are made from memory foam coated in a breathable fabric. At first glance, there's no microphone, but Logitech is using what they call a "virtual boom-arm" which equates to a pair of beamforming mics hidden inside the headset. There's also support for Dolby Atmos, Tempest 3D AudioTech and Windows Sonic Spatial Sound.

You get a choice of three colour options with the G435, namely black and neon yellow, blue and raspberry, as well as off-white and lilac. The G435 supports PCs with Windows 10 or later, macOS X 10.14 or later, as well as the PlayStation 4 and 5 and are up for pre-order now, with a price of US$79.99.

Should have brighter colors. I want people in the Space Station to notice me while I do some gaming.

$80 is rather a lot for an entry-ish headset, though it does have some nice features to make up for that (dual mode wireless is nice). Hopefully the build quality is decent even if it's lightweight - I've handled too many RMAs from cracked hinges on Logitech headsets to really trust their plastic though. Also very curious how good that built-in mic can be. As for the design, I have to say I like it. There are far too many boring black or ultra-gamery black+green/black+red designs out there. IMO the black design with the tiny green details manages to add some visual interest without going overboard, the white+blue is muted and pleasant, and the neon is pretty fun even if it isn't for me. There are both far more boring and far more garish headsets out there.

My daughters like this aspect.

My sons say wired for PC, wireless for consoles.

If this is targeting Fortnite crowd then they'll feel right at home.
