Seagate and Lucasfilm Collaborate to Take Gaming to the Next Level

Seagate Technology Holdings plc today introduced the new family of Star Wars Beskar Ingot Drives, the first release in a collaboration to bring designs inspired by the Star Wars franchise to its line of PC gaming storage devices, taking gamers' battle stations to the next level. The first release in the collaboration celebrates the legends of the Star Wars Mandalorian galaxy. These drives bring the iconic Star Wars "precious metal" aesthetic to the FireCuda line-up. The special edition designs will be available in M.2 NVMe, 2.5-inch SATA, and external HDD formats. Each drive resembles an ingot of Beskar, including its Imperial stamp featured prominently in the series, making these drives the ultimate collectible for Star Wars fans.

"We are thrilled to bring unique, iconic designs from one of the world's most popular franchises to the forefront of every gamer's battle station," said Jeff Fochtman, Senior Vice President of Business and Marketing at Seagate Technology. "This collaboration appeals to global audiences including gamers, PC builders, and Star Wars enthusiasts alike."

Seagate's fastest M.2 2280 SSD, the PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD features speeds up to nine times faster than SATA-based SSDs, delivering sequential read/write performance up to 7000/6850 MB/s. It is also built with a sleek heatsink design for premium installation flexibility and peak performance. Designed with a slim 2.5-inch form factor, the SATA SSD allows for versatile installation and build options. Gamers can light up their battlestations with the external HDD, featuring a customizable RGB LED bar. This external drive is lightweight with simple plug-and-play compatibility, making it easy for gamers to take their whole library on the road. The new drives include Seagate's five-year warranty and three-years of Rescue Data Recovery Services so gamers have peace of mind.

The PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD will be available in 500 GB ($159.99) and 1 TB ($259.99), the SATA SSD will be available in 1 TB ($159.99) and 2 TB ($269.99), and the external HDD will be available in 2 TB ($99.99).

Though the Star Wars saga extends over millennia, the wait for this release is not long. The Star Wars Beskar Ingot Drives are coming soon, in time for the winter holiday season. Seagate will reveal more iconic designs inspired by Star Wars throughout the coming year.

It's probably more decent than most of the Trilogy extension crap, but I still feel rogue one is my fave of the Disney films if I had to pick.

The new "Trilogy" is severely lacking. Dunno how I feel about the takeover generally, it's a very mixed bag.

Yeah I can't help but cringe from time to time seeing even the teasers. Total letdowns each and every one. Every film the actors now seem mostly busy with trying to pose for Instagram shoots all day. Acting is more often than not pretty horrible (but, in the case of Star Wars, that's probably its charm as it has always been) and you can just feel the whole flic is just a bunch of idiots dancing in front of green screens.

But on many points... again... cringe worthy and not Bond: nobody could possibly be offended watching it, yay. Strong women, Mr. Family Man Bond... at least he dies at the end, so again, you can hardly get mad about it. But it again confirms everyone is trying to play nice to cater to... whatever snowflake walks into it, nondescript. All that's missing elsewhere in the movie is made up for with more explosions, can't get mad about explosions, after all. In the end the whole thing was forgettable. I don't remember a whole lot from any of the last three installments, but I do certainly remember vividly every one that came before it. Strange how that works...

Films are getting more and more expensive to make, and with streaming options increasing in popularity profits are getting and will be smaller in the future. The solution for movie execs unfortunately is to take 0 risks which I don't see ending well in the long term but for now at least, as long as people continue to buy tickets they'll continue to churn along the same boring crap over and over again
