This is very cool! Pricing is okay too, at least compared to Asus' crazy expensive options. Too bad it doesn't have a tripod mount like those do, but otherwise this looks excellent. Hopefully panel response times are okay.

What type of customer base goes for these? Mobile gaming, portable PC gaming, laptop owners locked at 60hz, etc?

I can see the appeal for those really compact mini-itx gaming builds but the rest seems a little shaky in the knees. Or, does 144hz benefit content creators too?

I can see the appeal for those really compact mini-itx gaming builds but the rest seems a little shaky in the knees. Or, does 144hz benefit content creators too?

120Hz can be a benefit for video editing (as it's an integer multiple of 24, so you can get judder-free playback of 24p footage without frame interpolation), and of course it improves perceived system responsiveness somewhat. But this is clearly for gamers - no content creator is going to be happy with a 6-bit +FRC panel with 800:1 native contrast unless they're desperate. And there are external OLED monitors that will do that job much better.

As for who specifically, portable ITX systems is likely the main market, though as you say 60Hz laptops, people wanting a bigger screen for their laptop, or console gamers that need to move around are likely markets as well.

I love the idea of these tiny builds on the move and now these portable displays just makes it so much more exciting. Not that i travel with my rig (its a mid-tower) but there's been several occasions when i could have done with a portable solution.

Might be bulky and horrible looking for some... but at some point I did imagine someone producing a mini-ITX device with a laptop-like screen attached. No proprietary rubbish but a mini-ITX enclosure with full upgrade priviledges. I guess this portable 17" monster does it better with a more versatile touch.
