DeepCool's AS500 Plus delivers compelling performance for a single-tower cooler that gives some of the biggest air coolers a run for their money. Add the white version's aesthetically pleasing looks, simple installation, and acceptable noise profile and anyone looking to grab one for their build is in for a treat!

Bought this couple of months ago for my low/mid range system, and very happy with the temps and it looks great in my mostly white build.
Fits fine in my Lian Li lancool 2 Mesh case with room to spare. would recommend for the price (about £45 gbp when i bought it)

The white edition is only 5€ (75€) more than the black and I don't think it has much competition in the TDP support range if you want RGB, on the other hand the black version at 70€ it has much more competition (e.g. the Arctic Freezer 50 at 45€, of course there is the size and the aesthetic side of things to consider)
No wonder they send the white edition for review;)

A "white" kit that is, well, like, actually white..... gee.... imagine that

And it's only taken them how many decades to accomplish this ?

I'm gonna go order 1 (or 12) right now, before they suddenly go pooof and disappear, hehehehehe....

While taking a look at the temp/noise bars, it occurred to me tpu! is in good need of a redesign of the plots. Something like having narrower bars and closer to each other (maybe with alternating and/or more contrasting colors), and a reference grid behind. Otherwise, scrolling up and down and mostly having to look at the numbers drastically reduces the visual aid plots are supposed to give.

Something along the lines of the now defunct XbitLabs while trying to keep a specific identity for the site's reviews would be pretty good.

Crazyeyesreaper, appreciate the review on the AS500 PLUS. Its one of the few bookmarked coolers i've saved for potential forthcoming builds based around a white theme.... +Thermal Frost Commander/Peerless Assassin. Would love to see a review on these too.

Why still testing on obsolete hardware (intel 10th gen)?
So you can easily compare it to previous coolers that are still on the market.

I have the single fan black version of this cooler. Performs and looks great! :) Matches well with the MF120 GT fans in the CL500 chassis. (And yes, I love Deepcool products, lol).

yes that's true but surely not going to keep testing with 10th gen forever?
Uh i hate to break it too you but even the AS500 Plus sample I got didnt have mounting hardware for LGA1700 I would have to send in for it. 90% of the coolers I have on hand do not have LGA1700 mounting hardware. Some vendors don't even provide the hardware. So until I get enough samples and enough mounting kits the platforms remain as is. Not to mention since no one pays attention each cooler takes 19 hours to test. Yes that is not a typo it takes 19 hours EACH. That doesn't include installation, photo, video, or writing. Considering I at a minimum carry forward 10 coolers when switching benchsystems means that is 190+ Hours of work minimum. Typically I carry more than 10 coolers forward. It also means I have to verify the settings do testing settle on overclock settings to find sustainable power draws to test with etc.

Unlike a lot of sites I don't just slap dash test a cooler. I test it I check TIM spread, I retest and then do a third run to make sure the results are as expected. If people want a single platform tested with less time spent on my end then by all means I will swap platforms but then your only get half the story. As seen in many reviews a cooler that does well on one platform typical does worse on the other.

Right now Intel may have a new platform worth testing but its going to be replaced again soon. AM5 isn't ready yet. Since I still plan to stick to my testing methodology until AMD has a new platform its all moot.

It is a nice looking cooler, but the height is indeed a dealbreaker for some people. I passed on a great sale for the similarly tall Assassin III because my case has a 160mm max height restriction. Went with a Silver Arrow T8 instead. :p

LGA 1200 was basically Q2 2020 to Q4 2021 so obsolete is a little exaggerated (it's replacement is barely 6 months old and doesn't even have mass produced mounting brackets for alot of these coolers)

Well in the sense that nobody would buy a 10900k today.
Your over-thinking it. People looking at these reviews want the best performance and noise (if they care about that) for the money. Keeping the controlled variable (CPU and case) the same is a great way to get a direct answer regardless of what generation CPU it is.

There's way too many generations and tiers of CPUs for people to go "ohhh I want to see the as500 on my exact chip".

The end result is going to be the same regardless ("oh the AS500 offers fringe Noctua D15 performance, it must be good"). Slapping a 12th gen CPU in there isn't going to drastically change the end result

Just some thoughts on this Cooler, it is aesthetically beautiful and pleasing on the eyes, it really stands out in my case (Antec P120) which is white that's why I got it and the RGB with an array of color options via a wired remote adds a nice subtle touch to finish it off and just looks amazing running with my Corsair QL120 Fan Setup. It comes with AMD and Intel Brackets and includes Deepcool's CPU Paste in a Syringe. A word of note, this cooler is really large and my GPU is mounted vertically in my case so the cooling fins is resting on the GPU, this wouldn be the case with all GPU's as I have a EVGA 1070GTX which has a LED panel on the top with the branding on it so if you do not have card like this it will fit just fine all though with the weight of the cooler it helps keep it firmly secured to the motherboard. As far as Temperatures are concerned its well within specification, temps are in the range of 25 - 50 degrees Max using a i7 6700 so no issues there.

Did a build with this cooler recently and while the performance is fine, the mounting hardware isn't labelled, despite having letter labelling in the manual. This makes installation tedious as you figure out which mounts and fasteners to use.
