Ok... so here is the problem I have:

I just had my computer worked on, actually today, because it was randomly shutting itself off and not turning back on. That problem turned out to be from both an inadequate power supply and faulty Ram... So I replaced the power supply (150 watts better) and got a faster memory chip (So it matched my other ddr3200. I HAD a ddr3200 and a ddr2700 mixed.) Now my bios boot screen says ddr 333, meaning 333mhz... which is not right. :wtf: I tried the two chips separatly in different slots, and they both read as 400mhz in both slots when they are separate. I am not sure if my bios is just being weird and trying to make me believe that I have 333mhz Ram, or if it really is running like that. Here is a simple summary of whats in my computer (It's a homemade system.)

have a look in your bios, the ram may be running with a divider, set it to 1:1 and you should be ok.

Gerry.

Also just check and make sure that your cpu is running at the correct speed(check your fsb and make sure it is set to 200Mhz)

I have a chaintech mobo -.-. There is no divider setting in the bios... and yes my fsb set to 200mhz and 800mhz with hyper transport. My cpu is running at 2ghz exactly (also what its supposed to be at).

Just done a quick google, in the dram config options, where it says max memclock = auto, set that to manual(or try to) this should let you adjust the "current dram frequency".

Hopefully this works for you.

Gerry.

I tried that and I can only set the dram ferquency up to 166... which is what it's at now. I'm getting mad. Apparently Chaintech doesn't want me to "overclock" my ram to what it's supposed to be at... Grrr I am never buying a chintech mobo again.

Do you have the latest bios for your MO BO? If not try updating it and see if that helps. If I understand you correctly you are only using two memory modules both rated PC 3200. Some motherboards have problems when you use three. You can use CPU-Z to see exactly what your system is doing to rule out any doubt. Good luck.

CPU-Z says that my mrmory clock is 166mhz ... just like every other test I've done. I have the latest bios update as of now. (Good buddah it took forever to find it. :banghead: I really am starting to hate chintech now.)

So how the hell does this help me solve my problem??? :nutkick: Lol sorry but it is bugging me that I baid an extra $30 for a feature I cant use right now... (And yes $30 is a lot to me.) Help me!!!

And what does CPU-z say that you memory sticks are ?
What does it say on the CPU-z SPD tab for each stick ?

it says that one stick can only run at 200 mhz and the other can run all of the ddr 1 speeds...

yet it says that they both are running at 166mhz... :twitch:

(this is without the multiplier)

Do you have ram stick pictures and/or part numbers? One may not have pc3200 in the spd, which im guessing the bios may be seeing, and therefore limiting it to 166mhz instead of 200.

OK... if you read the reast of the forum you waould know that I've tested it about 50 times with different programs and THEY ARE BOTH PC3200!!! BESIDES THAT IS WHAT WAS ON THE BOX WHEN I BOUGHT THEM!!! THEY ARE CAPABLE OF RUNNING AT 400mhz!!! THey are RUNNING AT 333mhz!!! MY MOTHERBOARD HAS THE UPDATED BIOS AND IT SUPPORTS 400MHZ RAM!!! Buddah !!! :banghead: :nutkick: :shadedshu :nutkick: :banghead:

ALL OF THAT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED!!! WTF IS WRONG WITH MY PC???

I need my music... :rockout:

What brand Ram is it?
I remember Corsair made there first ddr400 with overclocked 333 chips and thats how the motherboard would regonize it.
That was a while back tho... when ddr400 first came out

Maybe your motherboard isn't fully updated. I doubt it's the RAM, and if your motherbaord wasn't stock supporting DDR400, then I bet the BIOS update didn't fully update it. Or maybe even with the update it's not fully compatible with DDR400. I'd get a new motherboard

Ok... My motherboard came stock supporting ddr 400 memory. I updated the bios anyway. Everything is working fine except the memory is 67mhz too slow. One stick is a k-byte, and the other is some offbrand I got off of ebay. CPU-Z says that they both are CAPABLE of running at 400mhz. My motherboard supports 400mhz ram. It is running at 333mhz.

Onecool, lol no they aren't that old.

Amd, my motherboard supports ddr400/pc3200 ram and after the update of the bios. I checked.
