So you've been reusing firmware "setting profiles" across differing firmware versions? Is that correct? If not then ignore what i say after this ;p

This is just a guess if...

If you are loading settings/user profiles from a different (older) UEFI version to say a newer version, there's no guarantee that the settings "profile" is compatible with the newer firmware.

Not quite sure how to word it, but while you can sometimes get away with restoring a settings profile saved from a different firmware revision than you are currently running - it runs the risk of strange things happening if they've changed the layout how the settings are saved or if they have added/removed settings it won't match the old overlay.

You might be getting the "bios has reset" message if the settings you are restoring were from a different firmware version since it would look as if they were corrupt to the current firmware.

Yes the OC profiles don't get saved on MSI either, even if you save them on an external drive they don't work!

MSI and GB seems to be super trigger happy with clearing profiles after BIOS update, Asus not so much.

Nevertheless, carrying over settings is just bad practice. Major AGESA releases tend to change and move around a lot of settings, layout, functionality etc in the BIOS (ie. take an Asus AGESA 1100 and 1207 BIOS and compare where PBO has ended up). Applying old profiles on a newer BIOS is just asking for things to get applied improperly (especially stuff in the CBS/AMD OC menus), out of curiosity I've tried this with my Impact and Strix when profiles didn't get cleared.

Besides, once you've done enough OC, re-entering stuff will seem like second nature to you. You'll just go through your usual routine

Yes MB profiles almost always go away with a BIOS update. I have a theory on this because of the few times it has not and I re-applied my saved settings, practically every value was in the wrong place or not at all.

For example, if I applied 1.5v to the DRAM, now 1.5 is applied to the SA instead. I figured the is whiped to avoid things like this. Better safe vs killing a customers CPU.

Yes that is correct, its just crazy but i have updated BIOS before and it has never happen, it says i have no users assigned to profile and i have named the profile, i really appreciate ur reply, i am thinking something had majorly changed so i assume thats why it was cleared.. I will go through and reset my timings again later, i had alot of OC timings is the only reason i was using the profile, I am in luck tho i have it saved on my phone somewhere, i was just really curious it happen on this BIOS update.. I really Appreciate Everyone for the replies!

On both my X570 Crosshair 8 hero and my X570 Aorus master all profiles are deleted every time I update bios..... Not sure why yours were not being removed. As others have said it is not advisable to use profiles from an older bios on a newer one.

The latest BIOS for all ASUS motherboards has deleted saved OC profiles. They persisted on all AGESA versions up to 1.2.0.6 on my B550-E, 1.2.0.6 did not load earlier profiles correctly and 1.2.0.7 BIOS deleted them all entirely.

This is a non-issue, imo, but it could be an inconvenience if you did not have your settings written down. Thankfully, I did. :)

It has been my practice to write down stable bios settings when building my own machines, except for one bios that prevented saving any oc profiles it has been easy to transition between bios updates because I have a book with timings etc for various builds. I tried the 1.2.0.7 but it too doesn't maintain maximum boost as well as 1.2.0.3c so I reverted after testing.

doesn't Asus allow you to save them into a usb pen or something? always make a backup . rule #1

In the event you aren't blocked by an error (usually wrong CPU family or incompatible settings file version), they won't load correctly, even if you save it to an USB stick. The reason the profiles got deleted is because the data structure changed. That's what happened on my B550-E.

That is quite odd. My 5950X is running the same clock speeds on all BIOS versions thus far. Newer AGESA also fixed the long standing memory training problems i've had, so my PC always boots on the first try now.

but that's easy to fix, rollback the bios version and load the saved profile.

The question is whether you want to roll back. The 1.2.0.7 AGESA finally contains the fTPM stutter fix, so, I want to run it. ;)

That's the case I think for most people, my setup is finicky though using exact same settings on any of the newer bios's results in p95 running at a lower frequency, it's pretty easy to notice if you run it with core temp or hwinfo you can spot the difference immediately, in my case 1.2.0.3c can maintain 4.85ghz all cores for some time in p95 where the newer bios runs all cores at a lower frequency in same test with same bios settings.
