Radeon RX 580 shutting off on high usage (GPU-Z.txt)

Hey,

could someone be so kind to analyse if the log for gpu shows something concerning? My PC shuts off when i edit videos or play games (like The Forest f.e. during this log). It doesn't seem the game nor the editing should be so hard on the engine for it to turn off. Any advices?

i mean that PSU is probably enough but if your PC just shuts off (like a power outage) it's probably a PSU issue.
latest bios, drivers, win updates?
maybe a CMOS reset.

run memtest or OCCT memory test.

I have a "feeling" that this card has a crypto mining BIOS on with altered clocks, VRAM timings, and voltages....

What brand exactly is that radeon RX580?

I can see in the log that GPU clock is only hitting 1100MHz, a bit low for this GPU. A typical 580 should go beyond 1300MHz when boosting.
Also the VRAM clock is a bit high at 2120MHz also for a typical 580. Usually the go up to 2000MHz...

This is a mining card setup... and most times (if not all) this configuration cant play games well.
And you cant just raise clocks of the GPU because its voltage is also lowered. And most likely VRAM timings are tightened too.

You bought that card used I presume.

The right thing to do if you want the card to work as it should is to flash the BIOS with the original one.

That or just report the seller for providing a bad card and buy a brand new in box gpu

Yeah, you are most propably right. I tried to flash the BIOS and while being unable to get into BIOS setup I cleared it and now I was forced to leave it to specialist as I can't reach clear BIOS with my current CPU. I'll let him know this tho.

PC has been repaired. If anyone's curious, guys had to reset and update both bios for GPU and Motherboard by hardware "Programmer" - hence really hard to workaround for noobs like me. For anyone answering and helping me - thank you so much for your time and words.

Sounds to me the motherboard needed a bios update before it would work with the gpu, every time you get a new gen of gpu, update the bios before installing the new card.

The power supply is abit on a low side as for the specs giving that would require a minimum at least 650w otherwise it will shut down on 500w if the load exceeded

650 for a 580, erm a good 550W unit would run it fine.

I only said 650w in case he trying to overclock so there be headroom available than skimping on 550w

500W of a quality PSU is more than enough for a 1600X+RX580 combo even with everything overclocked

The RX580 will peak around 200W and the rest of the system no more than 100W when gaming.

The RX580 will peak around 200W and the rest of the system no more than 100W when gaming.

My travel system with an RX 570 and a Haswell i5 peaks around 240W in combined torture tests. This will go higher than that, but I agree with your 300W estimate. As such, even a 400W PSU is perfectly fine, given that it actually delivers its rated output. Not a ton of headroom, but the system doesn't need it either.
