AMD drivers issues with Mining RX 470/570 + Intel iGPU?

Hello, I'm using a Mining Edition Sapphire RX 470 QUAD UEFI with no video outputs together with an i7 4770 using the Intel HD 4600 as video output.
Games are working fine most of the time (although using the iGPU seems to be causing some extra CPU load and slightly lower frames), but on the desktop I'm getting a lot of stutters and freezes when browsing folders, it happens mostly when the fans start spinning for no reason as if the system is trying to use or access the card when it shouldn't.
AMD control panel takes about 3 minutes to open and navigating the menus is extremely slow, sometimes I get blue screens too (but never while in game, only on desktop)
Sometimes when the drivers freeze and I reset the PC, the graphic card switches to PCIe x4 mode instead of x16, and I have to DDU the drivers to get it back to work on x16.
Also the driver refuses to install OpenGL, and I tried many different versions, all OGL games only run on the iGPU.
I tried flashing the BIOS with AMDVBFLASH but always get an SSID mismatch error, and had to wipe the drivers since with them installed it always fails to read the ROM.

Has anyone managed to get a Mining RX 470 working properly with drivers?

Forgot to mention that with my R9 270 using the same drivers and iGPU output I get no issues at all, and it even gets slightly better performance on older games like CSGO.

Hello.
I also have 24 video card like yours.
This card was designed by Sapphire especially for mining.
The BIOS itself was made especially for mining directly by producer.
So, yeah you will have problems when you will try to use it as a regular gaming card.

I use all of them under windows environment (6 in each rig).
They are working flawless for 4 years.
But i undervolted and underclocked them.
BTW - i am using the mining edition driver

Why GPU-z shows your card as RX580 ????

Thanks, the RX 580 thing is because I installed NimeZ unofficial drivers, but the issues are the same.
Which program did you use to edit the BIOS and undervolt it? I would like to try to change the clocks manually on all power states from a regular gaming RX 470. And still have to find a workaround for getting OpenGL to work.
I paid 50$ for this card, and it was the only option I had, where I live it is almost impossible to find any card for gaming below 200-300$, even used ones.

You "should" be able to crossflash a different BIOS at the cost of potentially bricking your card.

With a picture of the die, white sticker on the back, and the RAM chips (all close up and in focus) we might be able to find a BIOS that will work.

I don't want to open it risking damaging thermal paste and warranty sticker, seller reassured-me that it is using the original BIOS, according to GPU-Z this card is using Samsung memory chips, but a different older kind, the Samsung K4G41325FS used in many 2015 cards, and in techpowerup database the few RX470/570 cards using Samsung chips, use the Samsung K4G41325FE variant (instead of FS), not sure if that small difference makes it 100% incompatible, I don't know how to forceflash bypassing SSID and memory checks, the commands to do so do not seem to be working.
I also tried changing the switches to use the other 3 BIOSes, but all it does is lowering the clocks, voltages and max TDP.

As noted above, he cannot purchase a gaming card for a reasonable price in his area. OP's solution was completely reasonable, if it wasn't for the VBIOS giving him issues.

Hello
Since we have the exact same model of the card, i could share with you my modded BIOS.
Once again i would like to remind you my mods:
- memory timings reworked for mining
- undervolting
- underclocking

So if you still want to implement my version here you have it.
Remember to use dos version of amdvbflash and use ONLY version 2.93
With this BIOS , my cards didn't returned any BSOD in 4 years.
But as they were modded for mining, i run windows 10 w/o update (update blocked) and with one single video driver version.
Using this combination should give you a stable rig in windows, BUT for mining purposes

I will try to force flash it with version 2.93 then, could you post a picture of your GPU-Z?
I guess for the OGL issue there might be no workaround, AMD seems to be locking features on these cards on porpuse, some games like Resident Evil Village and Halo Infinite failed to launch on this card (not even returning an error message) while others like Cyberpunk, RDR2 and Forza Horizon 5 work nice with good performance.
