New 120x120x38mm Fans from Scythe

Scythe announced today three new sleeve bearing Ultra Kaze 120mm case fans. Unlike the common fans with 25mm thickness, the new Ultra Kaze 120 fans come with 38mm thikness. The slowest model (DFS123812L-1000) has the following specifications: 1000RPM, 19,81dBA and 44,44CFM. Furthermore, it is designed for silent operation in a PC system. Other models of Ultra Kaze 120 - DFS123812L-2000 and DFS123812H-3000 - aim for enthusiasts who are seeking high performance and high airflow for their PCs.

Maybe it's me but don't see any thing special with them.

Look better if they were compared with other brands like Dalta \Pano fans as well.

Thermaltake also lies out their butt with ratings. No thermaltake fan built lives up to its rating as far as I have read. From the various fans I've used I believe it. Their 22dba 92mm fans are much louder than any other fans I have, and those are all rated higher.

I concur. TT doesn't worth the scrap metal its products are made out of.

And Scythe does make really nice fans.

its not just the level of the noise but the pitch too. i had the white nine blade tt fans and they did shift alot of air even when spinning slower but they all had a high pitched whine and it annoyed me, the sleave barrings on the scythe fans are soo much easier to live with even at full speed.

these new fans may well be my next fans as i will recommend the older fans to anybody as i love mine and im sure these are even better.

haahaa that reminds me of a 38mjm thick fan I bought about a year ago... here is a link to it..

It was unbelievably loud, lol. It had a warning on it saying DO NOT CONNECT TO A MOTHERBOARD... I measured it and it initially drew about 6amps on start up and settled at about 2.5.

You could hold it at arms length away from you and it would blow your hair right back... What a beast.
