UPDATED: What motherboard to get??? fans for q6600 and 8800gts 320mb??

EDIT:
Now im looking into trying to save money. Whatever I don't necesarrily need or its waste of money please comment on it. its currently $1266.90. lower would be better.

I'm not looking to get the best motherboard, only what suits me for less than $200 (preferrably way less). I plan on getting a q6600 processor, 8800 gts 320mb, 2gb ram, antec 900 case, windows vista 32bit. I don't plan on overclocking, because I plan on runnng my build on just fan air (2x120mm frontfans, 1x200mm top fan, 1x120mm back fan, the VGA and CPU fan, and possibly optional side 120mm fan and 120mm CPU and VGA fan that connects to back of hardrive cartridge). So what are yall's opinions on what motherboard I should look into getting?

And speaking of VGA and CPU fans, should I stay with the stock fans or do yall recommend me to get better ones? Remember I plan on not overclocking.

Thanks in advance for any replies and comments.

The EVGA 680i is a good motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188013 $209 after MIR.

I heard the Q6600 runs very hot when all four cores are at load on the stock cooler. It might be best to spend maybe <$30 on a third party heatsink. There are Cooler Master GeminII heatsinks for around $0-$1 after MIR a couple times a month. Those would be a great cooler for the Q6600.

i run an ABIT IP35-E with pretty much the same setup u intend to get ,GFX ,ram etc i just bought a freezer pro hs/fan and oc @3.06ghz fine idling around 42c .

Make sure you get the G0 edition of the Q6600 tho as it outputs less heat and uses less power thus hopefully keeping things a little cooler.

apart from the cpu cooler being non standard i just have x3 80mm case fans,so u shoudl have nps if u dont intend to oc at all.

how about this motherboard?
ASUS P5K SE LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131189

is it any good? the $100 cost for it attracts me more than the evga 680i's $200. I'm trying to keep my build under a budget of $1300

i dont knwo about the SE model or the plain 'vanilla' P5K, but the P5K-E (that i have) and above are incredible. the vanilla misses out on a lot of overclocking options compared to these, and i think the SE might be the same as the vanilla.

with that many fans u should be able to get a reasonable oc out of it ,but i wouldnt try going to high with the default cpu cooler.

I am not sure what Motherboard my Dell XPS 720 uses but I do use the 6600 and I run 2 - 8600GTS as the board is a 680i SLI. Dell inserted a huge fan and a large heat sink on the quard CPU and it is very quiet. I like the XPS 720 but not to happy with Vista but then again I wasn't happy with Windows XP either when it came out.

I like what you have picked out, as a previous 900 owner/ user, I can say that you do get superior cooling for air.. I overclocked the crap out of my amd x2 4600+ and stayed around 30idle with zalman cnps 9700 and as5. as for the ram.. check out the g skill micron d9 chip stuff.. guaranteed to OC to 1GHZ or higher, or Crucial Ballistix.. :) MAKE SURE YOU GET DDR2/3 1066MHZ!!

what do you think of the Cooler Master RC-690 case? It just recently came out and I hear some decent reviews about it for being cheap and having the capability of having 7 fans in it. which one you think is better overall antec 900 or Cooler Master RC-690?

I heard the Q6600 runs very hot when all four cores are at load on the stock cooler. It might be best to spend maybe <$30 on a third party heatsink. There are Cooler Master GeminII heatsinks for around $0-$1 after MIR a couple times a month. Those would be a great cooler for the Q6600.

for that heatsink are the 120mm fans for just additional cooling in the case? also on newegg.com it says that its compatible c2d c2d extreme no mention of quad cores although it says it works with LGA775..

I never ever use stock cooling for overclocking, even mildly. Pay more, get more, and if you listen to our advice you will at that :)

Personally I recommend the Scythe Infinity, mine does a cracking job, but if you don't feel like spending that much on a cooler, pick up and Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7.

Oh, and you can all but ignore those compatibility lists for coolers, they are written when the cooler is first released, so if a new processor comes a long it's up to everyone else to work out how well it would do.

We would never recommend anything that wouldn't work.

Case cooling is as important as CPU cooling, especially if you want to run an 8800 which run pretty hot. So leave all the fans as they are.

yeah i plan to get fans too.. should i get one for vga or will the 2x120mm fans on the Cooler Master GeminII be enough cause it says itll cool vga also being that its big.

also Cooler Master RC-690 or antec 900? which is better for cooling?

You don't need to get one for the VGA..it already has a cooler.

All you need is one intake fan at the front of the case, and an exhaust at the back of the case (and possibly an exhaust in the top of the case) to keep things cool.

Despite popular belief you don't need to buy every single cooling product under the sun. The 8800 series have a pretty decent stock cooler (if a bit noisy for my liking).

All I do is make sure all fan spots are occupied, and buy an aftermarket cooler. That's it. No special cooling unless my graphics card has a stupidly noisy cooler, then I will replace it.

sorry i havent replied.. internet is out and i'm on someone's wireless right now on my laptop.. lol. as for the case, if you arn't gonna stuff it with large things like dual 8800's and 6 hard drives, then i'd say the antec 900. i like the cooler master and all, but i think the 900 has far better cooling efficiency, only reason why i got a CM was cause i got a new system and i liked the way it looked. it has decent cable management, but only 1 front intake fan.. also may i mention.. the case is about 3inches bigger both lenth and height of the antec 900, but again it's all about your preference. i honestly don't like my temps in my CM.. as for a cpu cooler.. ZALMAN CNPS9700 and some Arctic Silver 5, and you'll be all set for temps. also, load up the antec 900 with more of the antec tricool fans.. they work very well on med and high setting.. only thing i didn't like was they are 4 pin molex fans, so i modded a little and cut the wires and made them 3pins :D just a couple issues to pick.. if you wanna see a nice boost in performance, and get more stoage for around the same price... get 2x the seagate 7200.10 320gb sataII 16MB cache drives.. with perpendicular recording.. in raid zero they FLY. they PWN raptors, even in raid. :D also look into a higher watt, maybe modular psu.. coolermaster and thermaltake have some nice psu's.. and modular will help cut down on the clutter inside your case= better air flow= better cooling= happier OCer person and computer
