NVIDIA RTX 5090 "Blackwell" Founders Edition to Implement the "RTX 4090 Ti" Cinderblock Design

Complicated design - a good thing*.
* increased likelihood of breaking, and then there's your next trip to the shop, because, you know, "The more you buy..."

""The more you buy, the more you save""

Thats a powerful message - even if it doesn't apply to the consumer segment if you repeat that 10 times in your head you'll buy into it too. I just ordered x20 4090s without even realising. The leather Jacket AI has got us by the balls. The more you buy, the more you save.. The more you buy, the more you save.. :respect:

That video is a classic now. "The more you buy the more you save. " i mean, how can that not be true?

I just bought 5 4090 :rockout:

And so the Church of Jensen prosper.

I remember the days when ATi would mock Nvidia over the fact that their Geforce FX was a two slot cooler design where as they only needed a single slot cooler.

I can only imagine how people back then, both ATi and Nvidia, would react to this cooler size.

They would be shocked. I'm ok with dual slot designs. Anything larger is not acceptable.

We are long past the days of needing expansion slots in computers. If you have the room on your chassis why not fill it with more GPU?

Let's think about it.
People who want to record TV programmes or game for a living would likely need a capture card. Single slot.
Hi-Fi afictionados still sometimes prefer internal sound card for the few advantages they still bring. Single slot.
Some people use breakout cards for more M.2 slots, or a RAID card. Single slot.
Some need more USB ports than their motherboard would natively provide, or their case is missing the ports they could break out from headers. Expansion cards are typically single slot, header breakout panels are typically one or two headers per slot.
A few still need now-uncommon ports like firewire, parallel, or serial ports. One slot for each.
And of course, video cards needing one to four slots.

Depending on requirements, it could fill up pretty quickly. Large coolers are great, until they start getting in the way of USB headers and PCIe slots below, if you need them.

But otherwise, I agree.

It's not hard to imagine, actually. ;)

The year is 2009, it's springtime and the grass is just coming out, the Sun is out, and birds are chirping. Some person, let's call them A, settled in for another round of their daily ritual of browsing tech sites. They came upon the latest review of the newest GTX 285 video card, thinking how huge the blower cooler is, even compared to last generation's 8800 GTX, and still haven't quite yet forgiven NVIDIA for changing the naming scheme.

And then, they caught a glimpse of someone's concept sketch of a cooling mod, on their favourite tech forum, regarding last season's 9800 GX2 internal-SLI offering, with what looked like case fans mounted on brackets, upon the behemoth of what would be a homebrewed and heat pipe studded heatsink setup, occupying four PCI slots in the end. A caught their own jaw going slack for a moment, before their expression turned into a wry grin. What now?

Create fake fud and then leak out 2 slot design for maximum public hype. Rinse repeat!

I hope you're being sarcastic. In my PC, there are 3 other PCIe cards besides the GPU. I don't have room for a 5090 4 slot card and would have no desire to make room. NVidia is stupid-crazy with this crap. A dual slot card is ideal, 2.5 slot is doable and triple would be be the limit. 4 fricken slots? Out of the question and unacceptable.

The 4 slot design was bs
Here is the updated rumored leaks. The chart says 2 slot 2 fan design 448 bit bus.

I just bought 5 4090 :rockout:
Oh my congratz. can you tell us how much you have saved? :)

What I dont understand is people justifying this type of GPUs bringing dual cards (SLI) or growing power requirements etc. I really don't understand how some people can be happy about it. It is like they are missing the point here. Not to mention, the cards are maxed out to a point that regular 2 slot heat-sink can't cope with the card. I'd argue, 3 slots is crossing a line for me and cannot be accepted. Size aside, the real question is, why they need such a big cooler on a GPU? That is terrifying where we are going with this. 2 slot might be considered small at some point. That would be insane and yet still possible.

SAVED 0 OMG WHY ?

Where can i acquire such a cooler? I desire the most obnoxiously thicc card i can get xD

Are you sure you've saved money?
You should have ordered at least x40 4090s to really save!

I just bought 5 4090 :rockout:
And you didn't save any money at all!

I wonder if this is less for an RTX 5090 and more for a new TITAN series GPU. Like others have said the 4090 heatsink and fan combo should theoretically be enough for the GPU. I can't see them using a four slot cooler where a 3 slot would do. Especially one with the heatpipes and likely a vapor chamber like this one. I think we're about to see TITAN BBW.

well accidently put the second B there, but it still is applicable. (Big BlackWell)

I was thinking the same thing. Fuller fat 512 bit Titan for the whales and the 448 bit cut down version for the smaller whales.

The more you buy the more Huang saves billions
96.9 billion USD
2024
For reference it was 15.3 billion usd in 2022.
