Why. My 8800 GTS in the time demo has average frames of 20 and max frames of 34. This is setting set high and no AA. With 1280X960. I use a CRT. Here's the Crysis bench.

Good spot! 0.4fps is not a slideshow it's a freeze frame 3870 seems more "playable" in those settings. I'd take constant 20fps anyday over 1-60fps (what you'd get doubling both frames).

Looks like just the performance I hoped for, loses slightly to 8800gt, but that stock cooler looks great. Own heatsink for memory and voltage regulators, so I could just pop in VF900 and be all set without additional heatsinks. Also loving those capasitors, ultra low profile

Can't wait for them to go head to head in some more games and also heat/noise review on the cooler. I get under 6000 in 3DMark06, so no matter which card (HD3870 or 8800GT) I choose, it's a win, as they nearly double it.

Those 3dmarks are a lot different from the other 3dmark scores shown in that other thread, the one from the chinese (??) website... I think it said something like 14.5k in 06 in crossfire mode... this says 20K..

Quite obviously the guys at twrococ.com have totally fubar'ed the performance numbers - or that they're biased fanboy retards:

HD3870 @ 0.06FPS

Yet still they claim minFPS for HD3870 was better than 8800GT's (9.13FPS and 0.40FPS respectively)

Turn on the AA and watch the IQ plummet due the horrid CFAA of AMD R6-generation.
After that update your 8800GT's driver to find out that the IQ deficit was there only because of non-optimised drivers, it's prolly just a bug in the way G92 does light refractions.

Point being your showing scores for a program that you cannot trust. Point! Do you remember the day when ATI got caught playing with there drivers to increase the score in 3DMarks? Right after that Nvidia started doing the same thing.

What do you mean cannot be trusted? 3DMark06 is an industry/press standard performance gauge, nothing more, nothing less. Every 3D application/game engine has different responsiviness to different GPUs; game X runs better on ATi, game Y runs faster on nVIDIA.

What comes to the drivers...
Of course both parties can optimise their drivers in order to increase application specific performance, does it matter is the application a game or benchmark, Crysis or 3DMark?
