It seems as though Sapphire is having some sort of sale, offering their entire stock of HD 2900 graphics card either at a discount, or with free shipping. Get them while they are hot:
  • 2900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3: $170 + shipping.
  • 2900Pro 512MB 512-bit GDDR3: $250 shipped.

You could always have somebody in the US buy it for you and then ship it to you. The shipping might be a bit expensive but I'm sure the total will still be cheaper ;)

Man, if I had $250USD right now, that 512MB 2900Pro would already be ordered :D.

But then, I keep reminding myself, I need quite a bit more than just the video card.

First thing's first, a TT 430W with 18A on the 12V+ rail ain't going to run an HD 2900 ANYTHING. New power supply: $60-$80.

I want my cards cool and quiet. Thermalright HR-03 R600, with Arctic Cooling 92mm fan: $70

A monitor with a DVI slot would be nice: $200

Windows Vista for the DX10 pretties: $120

Crysis: $50

All the sudden, my DX10 upgrade is costing me quite a pretty penny...

When is Staples going to call me back about my job application :banghead:.

Bout damn time.

Good for AMD though, this should jack up sales in the face of the 8800gt supremacy. I honestly would be going for a 2900 if they didn't suck down the juice so badly, will probably wait for the HD3870.

WOW!!! the 2900 xt 1 gb was 529.00 two weeks ago Wow!!!!!! Still guys my 8800 gt kills even that card and it cost 265.00 and you guys know I'm a AMD fan boy. For some reason i think the 2900 xt still has a buch of untapped potential. Why they don't udate it's bios and increase the shader speed is beyond me.

I am not so sure about that TRT, I saw little gaming difference in the tests that I conducted. The 8800 wins in the synthetics, but it's not that much of a difference in actual gaming.

Well I'm here to tell you when I upped my shader clock 721/1806/1021 and with AA on, at x8, shader on high in game the 8800 gt it kicked the crapp out of my 2900 xt in crysis demo. The 2900 xt was overclocked to 887/1197 and the difference was 19 frames a sec to 33 frames a second. Thats alot different. Without AA and the shader on medium the 2900 xt did very well but not with everything on high it's not even close. I couldn't max crysis I had to set the shading to medium with the 2900 xt but the gt everything on high it runs fine. It's the shader clock amd needs to turn them up.

Yeah, thats a big difference. I only noticed around 4 to 5 FPS difference, kinda odd :wtf:.

Well I believe my 8800 gt was running significantly faster than yours, but also my 2900 xt was running faster than your 2900 xt / pro, plus has more ram. With the gt it's the shader that makes a big difference once turned up the games take off . Also remember I have a quad which really lets these cards loose. My 2900 xt at the setting listed above would do 60 frames a second. It was only when I turned the shading on high and AA on that it started to fall off this tells me it's the shader clocks, heck the 2900 xt has 3 times as many as the gt. My 2900 xt was by no means slow. Also I was running both cards maxed in CCC and Nvidia control center for image quality. With these shaders in the gt 20 mghz is a big difference. All they would have to do is up the shader clocks in the 2900 xt by 20 mghz and it would be a giant increase.

I could run the Crysis demo maxed at 1280x1024 on my 2900XT without any overclocking. Granted it was generally around 20FPS but it was playable.

I forgot to mention it was at stock speeds on the card and it was actually the "hacked" Very High settings that I got in the 20's avg. Can't get the demo to run again with insane amounts of video errors going on and I don't know where they came from so I can't test it with the card OC'ed.

Athlon x2 4800+ @ 2.7 and 2900xt @ stock = 1280x1024 Medium Settings for me
High settings were playable but not with great FPS...

I just picked up another 2900xt with this price drop... will see how crossfire does soon :rockout:

I personally think that the price drop is too little too late. They should've dropped prices on all HD2K series as soon as the 8800GT hit the market. But no, and now you see that demand > supply for those chips. Newegg for instance does not have a single 8800GT in stock anymore. Good job.
