Hello Kindred, we would like to share an update on the development and release window of Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. As Marco explained in the video (view it below), Bloodlines 2 will not be ready for release in the first half of 2025. Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room are committed to delivering this game, and we believe that ensuring great technical quality is more important than sticking to a specific date.

The game is currently in a late development stage, and feedback from the community has been taken into account during this time. TCR is working hard on quality assurance to ensure it is stable and free of bugs that could disrupt the player experience. Bloodlines 2 will launch in October 2025 when the game meets the technical quality standards that you, our fans, rightfully expect and deserve. Please stay tuned for the game's exact launch date. We want to ensure that the content we share with you is high-quality and showcases exciting game features. With this updated release timeline, we will pause our development diaries so that the team can concentrate on refining the game.

However, we will still be available online for questions and comments, and we welcome everyone to join the Bloodlines 2 Discord.

Would just like to remind everyone that at the point of the initial announcement the game was supposed to release early 2020. March, to be specific. I know that the game has basically been scrapped and restarted and pretty much nobody originally involved is even left, but this is legendary levels of vaporware. Arguably only Duke Nukem Forever and maybe the first STALKER is more of a defining example.

I think we will get Bloodlines 2 before Bloodborne Remastered, and I will be VERY happy if I'm wrong.

They should just cancel it. I won't be surprised if they cancel it or it will end being a total garbage.

Also, to be fair, this is nothing compared to Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, which has been in "development" since 2014 & is currently in some kind of early access alpha testing for a limited number of supporters. The amount of money they have burned through on development over the years is just insane; especially when you consider the lower quality graphics they switched to.

@MentalAcetylide
I mean, in that case, I see your Pantheon and I raise you Star Citizen. Even if Squadron 42 actually ever releases (which, to be fair, is what everyone kind of wanted to begin with), I would wager that the MMO-“actual Star Citizen” part will probably still be on a billionth beta waiting for another Jesus-tech when we are all dead, buried and fossilized.

Star Citizen will be in "forever beta", just like World of Tanks. The difference between Star Citizen & Pantheon is that Pantheon is still in a play-testing alpha to a limited number of players with limited features & available zones after TEN FREAKIN YEARS :eek:. Basically, Pantheon needs to be a hit from the start & maintain enough of an interest from its player base to keep afloat. They most certainly won't be bringing back most of the old school 24/7 camping hardcore players they had from back in the days of Everquest, so they need to bring in a lot of newer & younger players that have the camp-fest time to throw away. I can't say the graphics downgrade helped, but if World of Warcraft's cartoon-like graphics are good enough to keep it popular, I don't see it hurting it either. They just need to keep away from the free-to-play-pay-to-win business models. Nostalgia alone certainly won't be enough for it as a lot of the EQ players of that time have families now & more important things to do than grinding & camping for loot. :kookoo:

Not sure what that means, but WoT has had a retail release, unlike SC.
At least that's what i read from short history. Im not a WoT player myself so i cant comment on how true or untrue that is.

To me it sounds like indecisiveness from the game devs. At some point someone has to put their foot down and say enough. This is what we ship.
Instead for games like SC the "forever testing" seems to have turned into a business model. I guess they figure they can get more money that way, instead of shipping something finished that has a one time price. Their (and their apologists) excuse seems to be that it's playable by people. That's a pretty weak excuse as far as excuses go.
I just feel bad for actors in SQ42. At least they got payed. Maybe they should renegotiate for cut of the ongoing profits considering CI business model. Then watch CI melt down lol.

Cancelling it now would mean they've spent millions to develop the same game twice only to scrap both of them, which doesn't make sense when there's money on the table and the latter version is nearly complete.

Paradox has already said they're done large-scale RPGs after this releases, they will license a the development for a potential sequal to interested parties however. They've admitted they had no clue making this game would be so difficult, that they've basically been flying blind and hitting every major roadblock without planning.

Vampire 2: Coagulated Blood.

Strange or not but this felt like a not-happening situation since the very first announcement to me. It was always supported by vague teasers, barely showed anything of substance, and I reckon there still isn't much of that.

@Vayra86
Oh no, they’ve actually been showing a decent amount of gameplay and RPG systems for this new iteration for a year-ish now. It doesn’t necessarily look, you know, GOOD, but they will release the game at some point. It became a massive headache and a liability for Paradox by now, but I reckon they are too deep. They probably won’t actually get a return on the investment here, but it would be drastically worse optically for them to just cancel it at this point.

Meh, probably will get delayed again because GTA 6 is expected around that time as well.

Two more recent AA games I can think of that survived lengthy development: the System Shock remake (released 6 years late after 2 restarts) and Avowed (restarted 3 years in, during full production).

VTMB 2 could still be good. Possibly.

Both lukewarm titles though after all that time. I mean System Shock sure isn't bad, but did THAT have to take ages?

You're probably thinking of one of the console releases, which isn't the same as the online PC version, which is still considered a "beta" afaik.
