LIAN LI Industrial Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of chassis and PC accessories, introduces the LANCOOL 217, the successor to the popular LANCOOL 216. This mid-tower case merges high performance with elegance. It features real wood accents (walnut on black, beech on white), five pre-installed fans, including dual 170 mm front fans. The front fans are pre-installed in balanced mode for CPU and GPU cooling but can be switched to CPU mode, thanks to a tool-less design that facilitates easy adjustments. The LANCOOL 217 is the first of the LANCOOL series to introduce back-connect motherboard support, along with an innovative dual mounting position for the PSU (standard or rotated). The LANCOOL 217 is available in black and white at MSRP prices of $119.99 and $124.99, respectively.

Real Wood Accents
Available in dark walnut for black and light beech for white, the real wood accents bring warmth and elegance, making the LANCOOL 217 an ideal choice for setups that blend with contemporary or minimalist spaces. With the thoughtful positioning of wood elements, there is no compromise on performance, allowing for efficient cooling while elevating the case's visual appeal.

Airflow Powerhouse
The LANCOOL 217 is designed for optimal thermal performance right out of the box, featuring five pre-installed PBT fans, including two unique 170 mm front fans that can be set up in two modes: balanced CPU and GPU cooling (default), and another that directs airflow specifically towards the CPU. The front fans, along with the two 120 mm reversed-blade fans above the PSU chamber, utilize a tool-free mounting system with sliding mounts and rubber inserts for quick and easy adjustments. Together with the rear 140 mm fan, the case provides superb airflow throughout. The embossed mesh design on the front, top, and shroud further improves ventilation, allowing for maximum heat dissipation and maintaining consistent performance under demanding workloads.

Regular or 90-degree PSU Mounting
The LANCOOL 217 offers remarkable flexibility for PSU mounting. Builders can choose the standard setup, which accommodates ATX PSUs up to 220 mm in length with ports facing the front. Alternatively, rotating the PSU 90 degrees with ports oriented to the side not only allows direct access to the CPU 8-pin and motherboard 24-pin ports but also enhances hard drive support by permitting the installation of a second hard drive cage in the PSU chamber. An included extension cable supports this configuration, enabling users to select the most suitable layout based on their PSU dimensions and cable management preferences.

Impressive Hardware Compatibility
The LANCOOL 217 provides exceptional hardware compatibility for high-performance components. It supports SSI-EEB motherboards (up to 330 mm wide) and E-ATX motherboards (up to 280 mm wide), offering plenty of space for demanding builds. For cooling, the case accommodates CPU coolers up to 180 mm in height and GPUs up to 380 mm in length. It also supports a wide range of radiator configurations, including up to 360 mm and 280 mm on top, ensuring comprehensive cooling options. This versatility allows enthusiasts to build powerful and efficient systems tailored to their specific needs.

Availability
The LANCOOL 217 is available on May 2nd, 2025, at an MSRP of $119.99 for the black, and $124.99 for the white version.

If only fans were sunk in like on 207.

As the owner of a 216, I don't know if I can call the 217 an evolution. The air/watercooling shift is too good a feature for Lian Li to remove.

Io is downright stupid, they have space for 2 power buttons but 1 reset button and indicator LEDs are too much to ask. Also USB C speeds arent mentioned so lets assume its barely 5Gbps at worst and 10Gbps at best then its a massive let down given Fractal updated USB C port on their North series to 20Gbps and would much rather get North over this Patent trolls offering.

Aesthetically pleasing, since they did a better job with the wood trim, unlike most other cases that have just a little panel above & below the front panel, so I'll give 'em credit for that part.

However, as already mentioned, some of the other design choices are somewhat odd IMHO :D

Remember when lian li used to be the go to for premium all aluminum cases?

Was it ever the case for the Lancool sub-brand?
Their first cases had steel skeletons wrapped in aluminum front and side panels. It's been a long time since Lan cool started as a brand and they sure have gone full on budget case now. The inclusion of glass and wood as premium materials isn't very premium anymore considering the market saturation with those materials. Oh well! At least this case is somewhat handsome looking, I'll give them that.

For a moment there I got so excited. I'm looking at cases for my new build, and this looked like the perfect one..., until I saw where the front I/O is located. I guess it's fine when used on a desk but terrible when the PC is to be located underneath the desk.

And that's another issue I have comparing the 217 to the 216. With the 216 it's on top by default but you can swap it to the side.

Starting to think that Lian Li will never again release a good, all-aluminum case. They seem to be fatally poisoned by the fishtank virus like most of the rest of the industry.

If only we'd known how good we had it from circa 2000 through 2018. I would have purchased many more Lian Li cases and put them into cold storage.

LANCOOL III is a very good mid tower case with great room to tinker and very good airflow but it does not get enough exposure on the company's website or in general.

The 216 has an option for PICe bracket mounting a 2nd exhaust fan. Now it's gone? How tf can they call this a successor??

1 single rear exhaust fan is just so underwhelming and just seems so lazy on every brands part at this point.
We got people using triple fan water cooled AIOs for >100w CPUs but the 450w GPU underneath just gets ignored anymore by case makers other than GPUS BIG AND HEAVY NEED MUCH SUPPORT. YOU WANT TO FLIP IT SIDEWAYS?!?! OMG WOW VERTICAL!!
