Damaged PCB mounting holes for heatsink

Is this a problem ? The X crossed bracket is really hard to screw in since the heatsink is 2kg on this GPU 7900XTX and after mounting maybe one of the screws went not in the right angle and damaged it(penetrated it partially) , is this a problem or it is only a cosmetic/mechanic problem ? I am asking about the electricity on the PCB since it's not a problem for mounting the cooler again.

I would call it as cosmetic damage. I am curious to the opinion of others as well.
 
Do You see any copper there (inside the damage) or just pcb substrat, cause there should be no copper zone for mounting holes to do not damage it.
If not I would call it cosmetic too.

Ugh I am not really sure what you are asking me but the copper "ring" is damaged and some microscopic copper-like flakes fell off from the PCB. The pcb is kinda like barely touched but still penetrated from the inner end and that copper ring(the orange thing) is not fully - but still damaged. The condition that is in right now is after I pressed it down with finger,because before a small part of the ring where the damage was were hanging up and I just pressed it down

That part is is ground which can be damaged/scratched
 
My bad, when I've first looked it I've thought about different pcb, that has no go zones in the mounting holes, so scrap my comment before.
 
Surface damage to the grounding copper ring, will not affect performance, 80% is still there.

What performance you are exactly referring to ?
 
Nah it's that here you've got the ground, but on some pcb there should be nothing in the area of the mounting holes, so here is ok with copper there. and with that, my knowledge is to little to answer Your question.

I already did ,even before asking...This X crossed backplate is a pain in the a$$ to put...All of that because the pumping out effect in 7900XTX is pretty bad and today I had to replace the MX-6 with PTM 7950 ,even tho it's some chineese PTM it did the job by reducing the delta with -20C .All I was worried about was this damage to the PCB mounting hole :(
 
The crack did not reach the circuit pattern. On the PCB, there is an invisible pattern that runs through the inner substrate, but it seems to be a space that is almost completely disconnected from the circuit pattern. I don't think there would be a pattern so close to that place.

aren't these stripe/lines around the two holes the ''pattern'' that you are talking about ? the ones that are important ?

Yeah , too complicated for me also, I wouldn't bother to do such processes since I don't understand a thing from circuits and electricity :D All I can do is repasting a gpu with a spatula

Ah yes, because the GPU gods will bless me with a perfectly cool and silent card after an RMA... for the low, low price of two weeks of hot-spots and suffering and 2-3 months waiting without a GPU. I think I already explained why I wouldn't RMA the card in previous threads and I think it's obvious. Anyway I changed the TIM with PTM7950 and now everything is fine.

Hotspots are not a valid RMA reason without the card also showing instability. However, it seems there has been previous discussion on this card, so I'll leave it at that.

If this is the ultimate result, I think you lucked out! :toast: The only advice I would offer is to in future take your time and take careful steps when doing work like this.

I will be very carefull with the screwing process from now on ,that's for sure ✌️Now the delta is 19C or 20C at most.No more than 55C during 30minutes of stress testing and no more than 74-75C hotspot.Only in Squad stress testing it reaches 82Chotspot at most.And all of that is in the performance mode with 405W power draw.And the pad hasn't even cured yet.I did only 2 cycles for now :)

Nice! That looks like a very solid result! Would personally be happy with that result, and for those that know me, I'm a very ardent enemy of heat. :rockout:
