< 100 point increase in the 3dmark05 score

What i want is 16 pipes.
Now I think the only way to get it is to buy another card.

That right, no one has found a way yet to unlock pipelines on an R480 chip when they are locked on the hardware.

You can try with Connect3d GTO modified BIOS. You will unlock 16p, but will lose Vivo support.

Can anyone plz modify this BIOS (Connect3d X800 GTO Vivo) for 16p configuration?

If you look back a few pages you see that we all are having a problem flashing the Sapphire X800 GTO , our fuse data seems to be good (f's in the right spots) however we get an error when using flashrom (downloaded from bios section on this site). Any ideas

(command line: flashrom -f -p 0 newgto.bin)

It is the good old SE . With connected right bridge and modified flashrom you should have 12 pipes if your CONFIG_ROM_FUSES shwos 0xX21 but not 0xX22.

And what if it shows 0x22? SOL?

I have a Sapphire GTO AGP like you both...I show the same ATItool info you both do.
I took off my video card's heatsink to apply some new thermal paste and realized that the chip itself (on my card) said X800 PRO PCI-E...
Just curious if either of you have taken off your heatsinks, and if so, what chips you have?

Have not taken off the Heatsink yet.....will look at it tomorrow after work....Any one installed a ATI Silencer 5 on a Sapphire x800GTO AGP and if so how are the results.

hi all, can you have a look at this please. it says i have 16 pipes unlocked but i have done nothing to it, its a x800GTO² PCI-E. it says i have the R430 chip but i know it has the R480 chip. would i bios flash make this card work any better? i.e higher clock speeds?

If shows 0x22 no more pipes - you will stay with 8 pipes. 0x22 means that 2 pipe quads are blocked on BIOS level . 0x21 means that 1 quad is blocked (translated - 12 instead 8 pipes )

Hmm, repost your fuses data (so I don't have to look it up). According to what dolf has said earlier, the chip type can be determined whether it is R423 or R430/R480 based on the fuses. The fuses for R430 and R480 are indistinguishable from each other, but your default gpu clock is beyond what is possible for R430, so that rules it out for an X800 GT.

For an R480 or R430 chip, they seem to always look like this:
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES: 0xFFFF?FFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES: 0xFFFFFF9?

It seems that you have R423 (or R420 if your card is AGP) and probably you can unlock it to 12 pipes.

Remove the cooler and connect your right bridge using conductive glue/paint and do the fuse research again (clean the dots with sonething sharp until copper is reached before connecting).

Use modified flashrom to flash 12 pipe BIOS and check the number of pipes with ATITool.

i used the latest atiflash program instead of flashrom along with a 1.6 x800xl bios. My card was also slightly overclocked before i attempted the flash... i just woke up and tried it... and it worked. Sofar the only benchmark i've done is ati'tool. framerates gone up from 200to 235.

and atitool shows it as 16 pipes.

here u go. i just renamed to a shorter name. i'm not sure if i got it from here or not.

i think the command was... "atiflash -f -p 0 x80.bin"
try using the latest atiflash program instead of flashrom

yes i have a r420 agp.
i got one more question i have a saphire x800gt wich bios do i need to flash ? a x800xt is with 16 pipes right that wont work ?
i am not sure wich one to use.

i have a asus x800 gto, with ati tool i can overclock the core from 400 to 445(after that i get artifacts) but the mem is clocked at 490.. at 494-498 i get artifacts.. the temp are stable at 50C for both gpu and mem. If i flash the bios to a x850 or something else can i rise the clocks higher??? 10x i'm a noob at oc.
PS: i saw an article about the c3d x800gto clocked from 400/980 to 550/1100 or 570/1140. How is that possible on that card and not on mine. Are they using something besides ati tool, another cooling sistem???. 10x
